Kombucha is a favorite family drink at our house. It is an easy to make, refreshing, and nutritious fermented beverage! It is a great alternative to the corn syrup packaged beverages that stock the shelves at your local grocery. I have been making it off and on for a few years now, and my husband still frequently requests it. According to Cultures for Health, “A Kombucha starter culture (aka Kombucha scoby, mushroom, mother) consists of yeast and bacteria existing in a symbiotic relationship. When combined with brewed tea, sugar, water and allowed to ferment for 5 to 30 days, the resulting Kombucha tea beverage has a slightly carbonated zing and is packed full of b-vitamins.” Kombucha is a probiotic rich beverage that is not only delicious but is also gluten-free, dairy free and vegan.
I recently purchased some store bought kombucha at my local health food store. I was blown away to discover that it cost $2.50 per pint (on sale, mind you!) for this beverage! To make your own kombucha it costs less then $1 per gallon! All’s you need is your own kombucha starter (which keeps reproducing itself indefinitely with proper care), tea bags, sugar, and filtered water. I have just began exploring with all the different flavors you can make by adding fruit after the first fermenting period. The flavor variety seem endless (pear, mango, raspberry, and more)!

oh, this is a wonderful giveaway! i subscribed to their newsletter.
I’m pretty sure I was offered something like Kombucha in China…The family had a big apothecary jar filled with liquid and other stuff. I tried to politely decline. I think it had roots in Asia.
Is it safe for littles, knowing their is an alcoholic content to it?:
I came across Kombaucha Tea this past week as I was looking for natural remedies to detox your body while breastfeeding! I’m so excited at the opportunity to win this and give it a try!
The kombucha in your picture looks wonderful. I would like to learn how to make this healthy
drink. Thank you.
I have been wanting to make some for years! I would love to win this!
I want to win some kombucha!
This sounds interesting to make. I have made a fermented drink with wheat berries before and it has the good bacteria in it but you have to put honey and lemon in it to make it taste better.
I would like to try it and already subscribe to the newsletter. On a side note, because it’s a fermented drink, does it mean that it becomes alcohol? I’m not necessarily opposed to that, but am just naive I guess. Thanks!
Yes, it has a low alcoholic content…and therefore should be consumed in moderation as desired. This is why my husband especially loves it!
I am already a subscriber on their list. Lots of good information there.
I’ve been wanting to try kombucha for a long time! (I didn’t go to the website to sign up because I subscribed to the newsletter a while ago.)
I’ve been scheming to make this myself, would definitely save me a lot of money!
My husband loves Kombucha! I’d love to try to make it myself.
I have never even heard of this stuff before but it sounds yummy!
I’ve just recently heard about this from a friend. Cool opportunity.
Thanks for the chance to win! I love Kombucha!
Oh I am so excited to possibly win this giveaway! I subscribe to Cultures for Health’s newsletter already so I hope it’s ok to now leave a comment.
I have a friend who makes this, and I’ve always wanted to try it. I agree, it is too expensive to buy in the store!
We’ve been wanting to try this! What sort of bottles do you make it in? The kind shown in the photo?
