Say Mmm Giveaway

Are you lost in the kitchen desiring to make quality meals for your family but don’t have any inclination as to where to start? Enter…Say Mmm – a practical hands on program online that helps parents save time and money getting dinner on the table. The website provides several free meal planning, grocery shopping, and recipe organizing features for all your needs.

The founder, Brian, launched Say Mmm after seeing his wife stress one too many times over planning dinner, which led him to leave his job at Google to make a set of tools that would help all parents. A lot of other places focus on helping people find new recipe ideas, and Say Mmm is more focused on helping people with organizing ideas from anywhere and easily using them in meal plans and smart shopping lists that help do some of the organization work for them. And all the basic features are absolutely free allowing you to store up to 100 recipes in your account! It also has free features for bloggers, like printable grocery lists, to use on their sites. Here are more specifics as to the features:

  • Meal planning – Easily plan meals by day, week, or month with an online calendar designed to work with your recipes and shopping lists.
  • Grocery lists – Simplify grocery lists with smart features that help you remember and organize the things you need to get. It can even integrate with your smart phone for easy shopping on the go.
  • Recipes – Save all your recipes and meal ideas in one place, organize them as you like, and just click to use them in meal plans and shopping lists.
  • Say Mmm Plus – In addition to the many free features, Say Mmm Plus offers you price tracking to clearly detail your costs, as well as calorie counts, and has an unlimited recipe storage (whereas the free version limits you to 100 recipes saved in your planner) for only $3/month.

Today, Say Mmm would like to offer four readers a 6-month free trial ($18 value each) of the Say Mmm Plus service.

I like that you can add the grocery items to recipes and meal ideas, so you can just type the name of a meal or recipe to add the items you need to your grocery list. I can’t say I have very many great meal planning tips…I’m pretty bad at it. I guess the biggest problem for me is getting meal ideas so I’ve started writing down every meal we have on the calender so I have all the ideas up there.. then when I need an idea I can look at all the stuff we’ve eaten in the past couple months and its easy to pick something.

Oh! And I liked them on Facebook.

Once again, thanks for the great recommendation!

  13. Rebecca R. May 02, 2011 at 8:28 am #

Thanks for the wonderful reccomendation! I’m going grocery shopping tonight so I’m going to give it a try!

My favorite feature from what I’ve seen so far is the fact that you can choose a recipe and it automatically adds the necessary ingredients to your list. This program is so smart!

  14. Vinae May 02, 2011 at 8:16 am #

I’ve been looking into a program similar to this, but don’t have $60 to spend on it. I love that it’s free! Thanks for referring us to this site!

  15. Julianne May 02, 2011 at 6:47 am #

I’m most excited about the grocery list organizing. I find that it is helpful to plan out 10 different meals and have the ingredients on hand, but not tie them to specific days. Then I can cook what I want when I feel like it. :)

  16. Gwen May 02, 2011 at 6:16 am #

Totally good timing… mealplanning is a focus for me for May! This tool will help me get a great start in an area that is such a usual struggle for me… I try to make weekly plans & notes, but totally need the help to organize everything & this online version of my efforts, I pray, will help!

  17. Bethany S May 02, 2011 at 4:44 am #

This is PERFECT for me. I checked the website out and I love ALL of it! I spend hours at the beginning of each month planning and organizing meals and making shopping lists. I gather all my cookbooks and sprawl out onto the floor after the kids go to bed. This website could be such a time saver for me!

  18. carrie May 02, 2011 at 4:41 am #

I love how much time this would save me and allow me to provide healthier meals for my family without going crazy trying to set it all up.

  19. Bethany S May 02, 2011 at 4:37 am #

Are you kidding? I love it ALL! This is SO up my alley! I spend hours at the beginning of each month planning meals, organizing recipes and making grocery lists. I sprawl out on the living room floor after the kids go to bed with all 6 or 7 of my cookbooks and start searching. This website would be a FANTASTIC time saver!

  20. Melissa May 02, 2011 at 3:47 am #

I attempt to organize often by making lists but then I lose the list! I love that this is online, saved and organized for me!! That will make life much easier.

  21. Lisa May 01, 2011 at 11:32 pm #

I love that everything is in one spot. I can be organized and have my recipes in easy to find categories.

My tip: If you find veggies on sale then buy a few and use them throughout the week in various recipes so they don’t spoil.

    I “liked” them on facebook.

  22. Teddi May 01, 2011 at 9:51 pm #

I liked them on Facebook, too. (and I forgot my tip last time: clean out the fridge the day before meal planning, to refresh in your mind what’s left to use up!)

  23. Teddi May 01, 2011 at 9:50 pm #

I REALLY like how they just save your ideas for you as you go and you don’t have to do it in a separate step! Very friendly!

  30. Nikki May 01, 2011 at 7:54 pm #

Just signed up for the free version but can definitely see myself needing to store more than 100 recipes. I really like how integrated everything is and the introductory video was helpful in understanding how to use it. I only wish it had links to saving your favorite recipes from more common sites like allrecipes.com or cooks.com Thanks for sharing.

  31. Laura May 01, 2011 at 6:37 pm #

  33. Beth May 01, 2011 at 5:45 pm #

What”s not to like about this?! I love the idea! My favorite part is the smart grocery list. I always forget things (even with a list), and end up having to go back to the store and end up getting things we don’t really need.

One of the things I do to help menu planning is to make a huge batch of beans in the crockpot Sunday night, then plan several meals that week that contain whatever type of bean I cook up. Chili, southwest fish tacos, stir fry, enchiladas… I get pretty diverse with what I can make with the same ingredient.

I am a fan on facebook!

  35. Jenna May 01, 2011 at 5:03 pm #

Wow! What a great tool! I love how all the recipes are stored in one place and how accessible they are when you want to add them to your menu. My recipes are all jumbled in a 3-ring binder in no specific order which leads to wasting much time as I scramble through them looking for my favorites.

  36. Mandy May 01, 2011 at 4:49 pm #

I really like the meal planner aspect of this. I do this with paper/pencil, but I’m wondering if this would be more efficient…

As much as I try to keep up with my paper meal planner I’m always behind. The online version would be so helpful as I spend way more time on the computer than writing now!

Thanks so much for the giveaway.

This is really a great idea. I like how you can enter your meals but also add notes about that meal or day. This makes it really handy when having company.

Starting out on my own and being in college makes it hard to sit down and plan out meals (the fact that I’m also learning how to cook adds another twist). I spend several hours on the computer researching for my class assignments and occasionally vegging, this website puts all the tools I need right at my fingertips-very convenient. Thanks for sharing, I plan on suggesting it to my family and friends. =)
