Are you lost in the kitchen desiring to make quality meals for your family but don’t have any inclination as to where to start? Enter…Say Mmm – a practical hands on program online that helps parents save time and money getting dinner on the table. The website provides several free meal planning, grocery shopping, and recipe organizing features for all your needs.
The founder, Brian, launched Say Mmm after seeing his wife stress one too many times over planning dinner, which led him to leave his job at Google to make a set of tools that would help all parents. A lot of other places focus on helping people find new recipe ideas, and Say Mmm is more focused on helping people with organizing ideas from anywhere and easily using them in meal plans and smart shopping lists that help do some of the organization work for them. And all the basic features are absolutely free allowing you to store up to 100 recipes in your account! It also has free features for bloggers, like printable grocery lists, to use on their sites. Here are more specifics as to the features:
- Meal planning – Easily plan meals by day, week, or month with an online calendar designed to work with your recipes and shopping lists.
- Grocery lists – Simplify grocery lists with smart features that help you remember and organize the things you need to get. It can even integrate with your smart phone for easy shopping on the go.
- Recipes – Save all your recipes and meal ideas in one place, organize them as you like, and just click to use them in meal plans and shopping lists.
- Say Mmm Plus – In addition to the many free features, Say Mmm Plus offers you price tracking to clearly detail your costs, as well as calorie counts, and has an unlimited recipe storage (whereas the free version limits you to 100 recipes saved in your planner) for only $3/month.
Today, Say Mmm would like to offer four readers a 6-month free trial ($18 value each) of the Say Mmm Plus service.

I like that there are spaces in the daily plan to be able to plan out snacks. That is one thing that I really need, being a hypoglycemic and trying not to have a sugar crash during the day. That makes for one ugly mama.
My favorite meal planning tip is to know what you have available to work with. If you don’t know what you have you will find yourself running to the store every day for food you don’t really need.
Just the sheer fact of organizing ones self. My meal planning is pretty much waking up and going what am I going to make for dinner tonight. Obviously I don’t have much in the way to offer as a tip, but I do some times use left overs from one nights meal to incorporate into another nights meal. Taking the left over chicken breast from one meal and using inside of say pasta or mexican dish. The fact that the basics of the sight is free is great too!
Checked out the site and like it because it looks very useful and applicable to my everyday life. I need to menu plan and this looks like a good place to revisit that goal! Thanks!
I am now a fan on FB as well. I’m looking forward to making the meal planning less of a struggle now! Thanks for sharing.
I like so many things about the SayMmm website. I think it’s neat that you can add restaurants to your page and post comments about food you’ve eaten there for your friends to read. I also like that it automatically includes recipes from other websites, like HomeEc101, because I’m always searching for recipes on-line and wishing I could store them in one place!

I love the feature that lets you put grocery lists on your phone–I really could use that when I forget my endless grocery lists at home!
Oh, I love the idea of meal planning software! I think it would be very helpful especially with the grocery list. I love to cook! My favorite meal planning tip is to clean as I go. (as unorganized as I am, this is a big step for me! lol!) I keep a hot sink of water an wash up as I go keeping the kitchen fairly clean and easy to finish up after dinner. When the kitchen is a mess, I don’t like to cook, so keeping it clean, keeps me cooking and the kids happy!
Favorite aspect is the recipe organizer. I find it helpful to look at the circular, see what’s on sale and try to plan meals around that week’s sale items. I’ll also try to use similar ingredients through the week so that, for example, I don’t use only 1/2 jar of something and waste the rest.
I’m now a fan on facebook too!
I love how you can import your shopping list to your smart phone. How clever!
This is very exciting! A menu always takes us quite a while to compile. It almost sounds too easy… My favorite aspect is the time savings.
One tip that is helpful for our family is to double, triple or quadruple the meals we make and freeze for more meals. It cuts down on the time by making it all at once and it is so nice to pull a meal out of the freezer and cook it!
I just went to a freezer cooking method presentation last week. This woman’s husband also designed a program for her. I like it better than Say Mmmm because when you enter the recipes you assign quantities so when you make your menu plan it will automatically pull your grocery list telling you not only *what* to buy but also *how much* to buy. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s not web-based. You actually have to buy it (only $35, though!) and then it’s only on one computer. Still, it’s a super program!

I just became a fan on Facebook.
I love everything about this! I’ve been wanting to meal plan for a long time now, but I just keep putting it off. This will really help me get started!
