Willow Store Giveaway: Wool Dryer Balls

I was thrilled to be recently introduced to the Willow Store, a environmentally friendly online store founded by a fellow mom in 2005 who was desirous of supplying women with natural reusable feminine care products that were sustainable as well as comfortable. Since their founding, they have expanded to include natural child care, including their own unique cloth diapers as well as natural home laundry and living, with reusable bags, towels, natural bedding, soap nuts, and wool dryer balls. They are whole-heartedly committed to supplying families with tools and resources that will help facilitate us in living as good stewards of our environment.

Today I am excited to introduce you to wool dryer balls! Wool dryer balls are made from natural wool that can be thrown in your dryer to naturally soften your clothing as well as decrease drying time. This is just another simple way that using a natural alternative to chemicals (no more dryer sheets!) is not only environmentally friendly but also kind to your wallet. The dryer is one appliance that takes a lot of electricity, so I knew that if this product could help with this two fold purpose, it was worth the small investment (only $19.95 for a pack of 3). I have been pleasantly surprised to see it help reduce the drying time by at least 1/3 the normal time. I started with a load of towels in my experimenting (since they take so long to dry!), and yes, it was a success! My towels were softer and dried significantly faster than usual.

Wool dryer balls are safe for all laundry (including cloth diapers!), and will last for years to come. Check out the cute color selection and choose a three pack for best results.

Willow Store is offering 3 separate winners 1 set of dryer balls each today!

The color plum would be fun! That is what I would choose. I save money by making my own soap out of soap nuts!

  3. Simply to Delight March 29, 2011 at 5:20 pm #

    the natural ones!! thank you!

  4. katie March 29, 2011 at 4:30 pm #

I like the natural ones! to save money, I am discerning about what makes it into the laundry – it has to be dirty!

  5. Melody March 29, 2011 at 2:52 pm #

Thanks for a great give-away. Beautiful colors, I like the assortment pack ~One each for ‘Lights’, ‘Brights’, and ‘Darks’. I love the idea of these wool dryer balls, I gave up dryer sheets a long time ago and would love to have soft laundry again ~ Naturally!

My laundry tip: Too busy to bother with ironing, and tired of looking ‘wrinkled’ all of the time? ~ Just spritz your clothes with a little distilled water( = no mineral deposits), and give them a good shake before putting them on and ~ Voila!

I like the assorted balls. I don’t wash anything that doesn’t either 1. smell or 2. have a stain. This reduces the amount of laundry I have quite a bit. I’ve just done my “end-of-season sweater wash” to clean everything I haven’t washed all winter before I put it away.

  7. Angel March 29, 2011 at 1:29 pm #

I love the plum! I hang dry the laundry as much as I can, but when we have a rainy week, the dryer gets plenty of use.

I like the natural ones… I like using vinegar as a natural fabric softener. Thank you!

  9. Jessi Doggett March 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm #

Natural for me! I make my own laundry soap for really cheap and also hang my clothes out on the line when it is nice day!

I like the natural ones, though the assorted colors are fun, too. We try to wear clothes multiple times, which cuts way down on laundry!

I love to use my outdoor clothes line when the weather warms up. Clothes dry fast blowing in a gentle summer breeze and each load hanging on the line saves me money. How awesome, clothes line in the sunshine, wool dryer balls when it rains! I like the natural ones.

    Natural ones get my vote.

What a fascinating concept! I would love the natural 3-pack

Tip: I buy large packs of washclothes and use them as napkins instead of the paper ones. As they get older, they become dishrags, then old cleaning towels.

I like the natural ones and would love this! I quit using dryer sheets several years ago and I make my own laundry detergent to save money! It costs pennies, makes a huge batch that lasts 2-3 months and is quite easy to make.

  20. Jamie Lynn March 29, 2011 at 9:36 am #

I’d choose the natural. Training the family to wear jeans, sweaters, sweatshirts more than once before laundering helps cut back on the number of loads. I also use cold water for everything.

  21. Melissa March 29, 2011 at 9:04 am #

I would love to try these. I think I would like the natural colored ones, but it doesn’t really matter. I’ve tried different things to replace dryer sheets, including vinegar in the wash and a ball of aluminun foil in the dryer. Neither seemed to work very well, as we live in a very cold, dry climate during the winter. This creates lots of static cling!

the pumpkin and plum sound yummy to me!
making my children wear their clothes more than once and wear only two pj sets per week has gotten us down to only 4loads per week & we were up tp ten!

Call me boring but I prefer the natural ones! My husband likes dryer sheets so I cut them into quarters to make them last. Every other wash I use vinegar and no sheets, he has not complained! I also use less detergent then suggested to save money. I dry my cloth diapers on a drying rack when I can. We live in a town house so no cloths lines allowed!

I love the natural ones! This is such a cool product!

yellow is a happy color. i wash with just cold water to cut back on heating the water (we use oil heat, need i say more

    I like the assortment pack!
A great way for my family to save on laundry detergent is to make our own! So much cheaper & without all the chemicals!

Natural or Plum, since I do tend to put cloth dipes in the dryer: keeps them soft & our yard is mostly shade.

  29. Amber March 29, 2011 at 4:43 am #

Natural. The dryer uses so much electricity. Hang clothes out in the summer and in the winter dry in the dryer for the minimal time needed. If jeans and sweaters are still wet hang them inside to finish drying.

  30. Coral March 28, 2011 at 11:12 pm #

I would love some yellow ones. My cheap laundry idea is using vinegar for fabric softener.

I like the natural. My tip is get soft water so you’ll use less soap. Also, the soft water helps the soap work better.

  33. caitlin March 28, 2011 at 8:25 pm #

I love the natural, but plum would probably be easier to pick out of the laundry.

  34. Stephanie March 28, 2011 at 7:55 pm #

My favorite would be the colors. One way I’ve learned to save money doing laundry is to line dry until the clothes are almost dry and then pop them in the dryer for twenty minutes. It saves energy and my clothes are still soft.

I’m very interested in this item – great idea! I’d chose the natural set. We only use cold water to wash our laundry (except the diapers) and we try to hang dry as much as possible.

  37. Callie March 28, 2011 at 7:36 pm #

Natural ones look great- clothes last longer when washed inside out!

  38. Lauren March 28, 2011 at 7:21 pm #

I like the natural ones. What a cool idea! My favorite money saving household trick is making my own cleaners- vinegar, lemon, salt, and baking soda all do wonders!

Oh and a tip: out of detergent. We used to wash out clothes without detergent from time to time. You would be surprised how much left over detergent is in your clothes. (esp. jeans and towels). There were still lots of bubbles and they came out clean.

Natural Pack. I used to have a couple dresses that had a smell that I couldn’t get rid of. I thought I was going to have to throw then away! So, I saved money by not having to buy replacements by following a tip from a good friend. She recommended adding about 8 oz of Pepsi (regular, not diet or any other) to the wash or soaking the dresses in Pepsi. I was impressed at the results and now carry Pepsi in my storage closet. (We only drink water, OJ, and green smoothies in this house.) Fortunately, I haven’t required to use it for years! It must be all that detoxing I’ve done since… and my diet is “cleaner”.

  45. Jeannie March 28, 2011 at 5:47 pm #

I would choose the cherry color to brighten up my laundry. We have too much pollen here to line dry so they would get a good work out in my dryer!

  46. Jess H March 28, 2011 at 5:46 pm #

I really like the “natural” 3pack–for housecleaning, we use vinegar & baking soda for most jobs and truly love the results (and cost!).

  47. amy March 28, 2011 at 5:17 pm #

natural ones are my favorites. line drying outside is a goood way to save money–i’d like to do that this year.
