As the height of cold and flu “season” continues, many of us are may be getting very weary of trying this or that different method. We have certainly had our share of cold, fevers and sour throats this year but have been blessed by the warm and healing powers of herbal teas as one of our natural remedies. I have found warm herbal teas to be so comforting to a stressed and tired immune system. When our bodies are relaxed and refreshed in this way, they are given the ability to heal properly.
In the spirit of getting well naturally, Celestial Seasonings has created a “natural wellness kit” which they sent me for my review and would like to offer another kit for one lucky reader to put to the “sniffle” test! I was delighted with the contents of this kit. Six different delicious herbal teas are included in this kit for the basic sicknesses that may pervade your home. These wellness teas are blended to address specific ailments including a sore throat and upset stomach.
The Celestial Seasonings Natural Wellness Kit (worth $60) includes:
• Four wellness teas to ease symptoms associated with the cold and flu including Sleepytime Extra, Echinacea Complete Care and Tummy Mint
• Two green teas to support a healthy immune system year round – Authentic Green Tea and Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea
• Mug, soothing lip balm, honey sticks and Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Bear (which Karis absolutely loves!) and the book “Herbs for Health and Happiness” by Celestial Seasonings founder Mo Siegel and Nancy Burke, which includes a thorough de-briefing of many powerful herbs.
We have been thoroughly enjoying the flavors and healing powers of these herbal combinations and can highly recommend them to you all.
For additional wellness information, check out Celestial Seasoning for unique resources and videos to educate you about how to ease cold and flu symptoms naturally, with teas, herbs and other foods.

I love ginger when my belly hurts, and using ice on my neck for headache instead of OTC meds.
My favorite is making a garlic/fresh lemon/honey tea for colds and sore throats.
For natural remedies for viruses, I use lots of carrot juice, garlic, and steam facials.
My favorite wellness tip is about Mullein tincture. It’s the best for settling a cough that comes with bronchitis. Great stuff.
And btw, thanks for the opportunity to win the kit.

When I start to get a general headache I always start with drinking two cups organic apple juice, works a lot of the time!
Also try staying away from the conventional mouthwash and chewing on some fresh parsley to freshen your breath!

Astragulus is great for boosting your immune system and can be taken all the time. I’ve even brewed a tsp-Tbsp. in with my red raspberry leaf tea (whatever tea you normally make) and drink the tea as normal. *I make a gallon container at a time. You get your daily astragulus that way to help boost your immune system along with all the other beneficial properties it has to offer.
Thanks for the giveaway..how exciting.
My favorite remedy for that hacking cough that comes at night when you really want to sleep is this: 2 tblsp honey, approx 2 oz apple cider ving. a shot of hot water. stir it up, gargle with it then swallow it. Seems to not only coat the throat but help cut through the junk that is keeping you awake.
Plain castor oil on a toenail fungus. Applied daily, it worked in a few weeks, after literally years and doctor’s presciptions didn’t help! Eventually the bad nail just peeled away, and the new healthy nail grew in. And it’s never been back!
Just got turned onto your blog by a good friend! My family is trying to live a more healthy life and she said you have alot of great stuff here.
My favorite natural remedy when I am feeling under the weather is tea, sometimes even just hot water with lemon. The warmth going through your body feels so comforting.
Taking a teaspoon of local honey does wonders for my allergies (especially in the spring!)
One of my best tips is apple cider vinegar! It’s great for sore throats, coughs, congestion . . . a definite part of my cold & flu “medicine chest”!
I’ve shared the info on my facebook too! http://www.facebook.com/#!/krista.stallard?ref=profile
My first line of defense is usually homeopathy. I’ll take aconite at the first sign of illness. If the illness progresses, Everybody’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicines has been very helpful in pinpointing a more specific remedy. My husband swears by honey vanilla chamomille tea with raw honey as a general health enhancer.
Our favorite natural remedy for an upset stomach is fennel. It works wonders.
I love hot green tea with lemon and honey, or just hot water with lemon and honey. Always makes my throat feel soothed!
I little squirt of hydrogen peroxide on your toothbrush before brushing has kept our teeth whiter! I love Sleepy Time chamomile tea.
essential oils are wonderful!
There are so many natural healing things that I love. I would not ever want to be without my garlic, honey and cayenne. But I think when it comes right down to it I have to agree with Hippocrates, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.”
We like cold care and throat care tea with honey
I had bronchitis in November and I was 6 months pregnant at the time. I drank lots of hot water with lemon and raw honey to soothe my throat. Worked great!
I always gargle with 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water when I feel a sore throat coming on. Almost always knocks it out before it starts!
I really like Aloe Vera for skincare. I haven’t used it on a burn, but I have very rough hands (from years of washing dishes and cleaning house). The plant makes my hands feel so soft and smooth, without harsh chemicals or smells.
I love their teas! I’m becoming more and more convinced that proper rest is the best healer. I never listened throughout college and a few years later, but I’m getting it now and reaping the benefits.
Sleep is my favorite natural healer!
I use echinacea to help boost the immune system.
No tips here, I’m just learning. But I’ve noticed that with standard medicine you can just pop a pill. With natural therapies you have to stop and address the problem. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to make the switch, but just another reason it’s so much better for you.
Ooh, this would be so fun to win! Thanks to you and Celestial Seasonings! My favorite natural healing tip is honey instead of cough medicine. It works nicely almost every time!
What an awesome package! My favorite natural healing tip is to rest. Our bodies need rest while we’re sick and we tend to just push through the exhaustion. Bad idea. That just prolongs the illness! If only I could take my own advice and allow myself to take naps while I’m sick.
Oh, I posted about this on my blog!

hydrogen peroxide and anti-candida diet.
When my throat feels sore I like to heat up some honey and mix it with lemon. I drink this and it makes my throat feel so good!

I love using essential oils for healing powers.

I doctor my husband when he is sick(he gets sick a lot more then me) by making his favorite herbal tea with honey, emergen-c, and tucking him into bed
I come from India and we love natural healing methods! For common colds and flu we take a tablespoon of ginger extract and honey (both equal parts, about a tablespoon). The ginger extract is obtained simply by crushing a small piece of the root in a mortar and pestle. As for a sore throat, nothing is better or more delicious than a masala tea!
To make, boil 3 cups of water with lightly crushed whole spices (I use cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and peppercorns about 2 each). Add black tea leaves or tea bag. Let boil, strain and add milk and sugar to taste.
Thanks for the giveaway!!
Lemon ginger tea is great!

Hot honey and lemon tea is the best
I LOVE Emergen-C for my whole family. they have new, great flavors now. And my children call it “pop,” it tastes so good. Also, I have been giving everyone in my family liquid Vitamin D drops. It helps block colds. I am a true believer of it!

I haven’t had emergen-c for a few years, and I really didn’t like it at all then. Have they changed the taste that much?
Yes! Pink Lemonade is the best flavor! Love E-mergen C
I also have been drinking Tahitian Noni Juice for the past 6 years. I have much fewer colds if any, sounder sleep, clearer thinking, better skin & hair, No more heart burn, or tendonitis, etc. Feel better!! Can’t say enough about it. They even have new flavors that kids will love! Great stuff the best!
I love to use hot lemon juice and honey to soothe a sore throat.
Honey in tea or straight from the bottle
To calm anxiety and panic attacks, I drink tension tamer tea without sugar. It helps! I promise!
My husband and I have been exploring natural rememdies over the last year or so. Fortunately, the Lord has blessed our little family of four with relatively good health. My youngest daughter and I have been passing thrush back and forth through nursing though. We’ve been eating lots of garlic, sauteing with coconut oil, and using caprylic acid/grapefruit seed extract. The hardest part is trying to maintain a relatively low carb diet (to avoid feeding the yeast) while also trying to maintain an adequate milk supply. The good news is the thrush in my baby’s mouth has disappeared!
Whenever I feel run down, I chop up 1 or 2 garlic cloves and take it with water (A little tough to do this but I believe it works). Then I drink 8 oz. of water with 1 – 2 T of Braggs apple cider vinegar. I also use the neti pot if I feel stuffy. Also, lots of fluids and prayer! Thanks for the offer!
