Celestial Seasonings Wellness Kit Giveaway!

As the height of cold and flu “season” continues, many of us are may be getting very weary of trying this or that different method. We have certainly had our share of cold, fevers and sour throats this year but have been blessed by the warm and healing powers of herbal teas as one of our natural remedies. I have found warm herbal teas to be so comforting to a stressed and tired immune system. When our bodies are relaxed and refreshed in this way, they are given the ability to heal properly.

In the spirit of getting well naturally, Celestial Seasonings has created a “natural wellness kit” which they sent me for my review and would like to offer another kit for one lucky reader to put to the “sniffle” test! I was delighted with the contents of this kit. Six different delicious herbal teas are included in this kit for the basic sicknesses that may pervade your home. These wellness teas are blended to address specific ailments including a sore throat and upset stomach.

The Celestial Seasonings Natural Wellness Kit (worth $60) includes:
• Four wellness teas to ease  symptoms associated with the cold and flu including Sleepytime Extra, Echinacea Complete Care and Tummy Mint
• Two green teas to support a healthy immune system year round – Authentic Green Tea and Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea
• Mug, soothing lip balm, honey sticks and Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Bear (which Karis absolutely loves!) and the book “Herbs for Health and Happiness” by Celestial Seasonings founder Mo Siegel and Nancy Burke, which includes a thorough de-briefing of many powerful herbs.

We have been thoroughly enjoying the flavors and healing powers of these herbal combinations and can highly recommend them to you all.

For additional wellness information, check out Celestial Seasoning for unique resources and videos to educate you about how to ease cold and flu symptoms naturally, with teas, herbs and other foods.

Colloidal silver is a natural remedy that kills bacteria, viruses. Great to take at the first sign of cold and flu.

I really enjoy it when my husband will take over the care of our 5 children and then he sets a nice hot bath for me with some chocolate and hot tea. Very relaxing and soothing-I’m a new wife and mom afterwards!!

We make “Garlic Tea”. I put smashed garlic cloves and chopped onion in a tea infuser/strainer. I steep it in hot water (not boiling, but hot enough that I can just put my fingers in it for a second) for 5-10 min. I then add lemon juice, honey, and cayenne pepper.

  6. Kim Mar 17, 2010 at 11:41 am #

I love the Celestial Teas. My wellness tip would be drinking our “garlic tea” at the first signs of sickness. It will knock it right out.
    Blessings,

My tip: DOWN TIME. I have type I diabetes, and sometimes my blood sugars are just horrible. I give myself permission to call in sick to work (that’s what “sick days” are for!), wear my pjs, watch a pointless tv show, curl up on the couch, and eat waffles for lunch. I’m a firm believer in investing in one’s own health in order to invest in a healthy family! If you put yourself LAST, ladies, your whole family will suffer. Being smart about your health isn’t selfish! <3

I love Celestial Seasonings, this is a wonderful giveaway!

I haven’t taken any unnatural medicine in years, and I get over colds and illnesses much quicker than I use to. Usually if I feel a cold symptom coming on I will take an Airborne/Emergen-C for preventive measures. If that fails then I put myself on a regimen of echinacea and goldenseal herb blends or supplements. (Plus lots of water!) For a sore throat I use lemon tea with honey (sometimes I also put a bag of echinacea tea with it). For decongestion try eating spicy food with cayenne pepper (but only if you feel like you’re body can handle it in it’s sick state). For aiding in sleep I hear valerian, kava kava, chamomile, hops, and passion flower all have natural sedative effects. Although I usually try to exercise (if I don’t feel too horrible) before bed. The exercise will allow you to sweat out all the bad stuff, and also leave you tired in order to get good rest.

And you must not forget that eating healthy is the ultimate preventitive measure to not getting sick! If you’re having troubles eating when you’re sick try just snacking on small bits of food through out the day. I would recommend cut up raw fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, zinc, and magnesium.

Usuing mint essential oils (or eucalyptus) can also help open respirtory pathways, as well as ease any headaches or migranes.

Oops, I think this comment ended up much longer than it needed to be! Lol.

We also drink a small glassful of freshly squeezed lemon juice, crushed garlic, and salt. That has had the most immediate “feel better” effect for me.

LOL, I shared about the contest on Facebook, but I have no idea how to make a link from here to there and there are many Beth Wests. If it helps, I’m the Beth with the ocean and the nest of seaweed.

My family gargles salt water every night and we clean our nasal passages with it. This is a preventative measure. However, if we do get sick (we haven’t this year! Yay!) we rest as much as possible, load up on fresh raw garlic and echinacea tea! =)

    What an awesome kit!
Apple Cider Vinegar and water and honey make a great “tea” for sinus and upper respiratory infections!

  18. Amy Mar 17, 2010 at 11:05 am #

We always go for the garlic with most illnesses…garlic is pretty amazing!

  19. Fernanda Mar 17, 2010 at 11:02 am #

Ok… here is the best one. Doesn’t taste very good… but you’ll see the difference!
Mix together (in blender)half a lemon, half an orange, half a grapefruit, half an onion, 1 garlic clove, put one TBSP of honey and drink the mix!

  20. Stephanie Mar 17, 2010 at 11:00 am #

Tea, Vitamin C and zinc. We load up!

  21. Michelle B Mar 17, 2010 at 10:58 am #

My kids are big tea drinkers. And when one of us are not feeling well, they will go to the tea drawer (yes, we’ve taken over a complete kitchen drawer with all of our teas!!) and they will identify one that is helpful. We always have raw honey on hand for simple sore throats as well!

  22. Cee Mar 17, 2010 at 10:57 am #

We like kiwis for their abundance of Vitamin C, and make cough syrup out of warm water, lemon juice, and honey. It truly seems to work, and has the pleasant flavor of lemonade almost. Thank you for this lovely giveaway!

This world is FULL of antibiotics. And I will be honest and admit that I was the first to go get antibiotics for almost every little infection our family had……until I came across Nature’s Sunshine natural antibiotic called Silver Shield. WOW! Amazing. It works SO well. It even kept my constant bronchitis I felt coming on at bay. Within one day I felt the tightness in my lungs go away. I took it for 10 days (the same amount of time the conventional antibiotics is prescribed) and I felt wonderful again.

The best healing tip is praying to God through His Son Jesus by the Holy Spirit. He is soverign and does not allow anything to happen that He is not completely aware and in control of.

I’m so new to the world of natural remedies (your blog has proven so helpful and spurred me on!)…..but we try to limit intake of sugar- especially for our kids and also drink plenty of water! And of course, drinking lots of tea is a favorite!
Thanks so much for a wonderful giveaway and for your blog!

Eating red onion raw clears up stuffy noses quick.

  31. Mommy Mar 17, 2010 at 10:40 am #

I like to make my own ginger tea when we are sick around here. I thinly slice seven slices of fresh ginger, add boiled water ( bit more than a cup), add fresh lemon juice and raw honey to taste. There’s not a lot you can do once you’re sick, but we do stay out of public until we are better. All year round, we carry Costco household sanitizing wipes (kirkland brand) and we wipe down store carts and once we are done with our outing, we wipe our hands with it before getting in the car. Everyday we try to take Carlson’s norwegian cod liver oil with lemon flavor which comes in a green glass bottle, Echinacea drops, and vitamin D drops. We started taking this last year and my kids had runny nose once and my husband and I were not sick at all.

  32. Nichole Mar 17, 2010 at 10:37 am #

A thorough dry brushing of the skin before soaking in a hot bath (detox), then slathering on a thick layer of natural oil or body butter (comfort!). Add in some comfy jammies and thick socks, and you might actually get some rest! I also like to toss a couple of herbal tea bags in the bath if I am out of salts.

My favorite natural healing is to use a peeled garlic and hold it in your ear for ear infections!! Works like a charm every time and I haven’t had my kids on anti-biotics for years now! (You hold it in for 5 min. intervals at least 10x a day for 1-2 days)

My favorite natural remedy is taking Echinacea. When I was in high school, the entire cast of “Godspell” (including me) all came down with horrible colds that attacked our vocal cords…not good when you’re doing a musical!! We all went out and bought echinacea and by opening night, all but one person was completely healthy…and he was better by the second day! To this day, I always recommend it to people who feel like they’re battling a cold. My sister-in-law took it the day before her wedding and woke up the next day feeling great. :-)

Rest! Getting enough rest is by far my favorite natural wellness tip.

  46. Sheila Mar 17, 2010 at 9:45 am #

Hello! Entering! I use a variety of things. When I feel the sniffles coming on, I take extra vitamins, Echinacea, Oregano Oil, and zinc lozenges when I need them. To clear congestion, just hot water with lemon juice and honey. :-) Does the trick!

  47. Meredith Mar 17, 2010 at 9:44 am #

I also posted about it on my blog and my facebook page :)

  48. alyssa Mar 17, 2010 at 9:44 am #

Pick me please! Take lots of vitamin C and garlic. And rest to get well faster!

  49. Ann Mar 17, 2010 at 9:40 am #

When we have illnesses like we have righ tnow, the biggest thing we do is to wash our hands WELL. We let the sick one rest and no one goes near them without washing their hand before and after helping them. Peppermint tea is great for sick tummies and Traditional Medicinals makes a great “Herbatussin” tea for coughs. But washing hands, sleep and lots of liquids makes a big difference. OH! I also keep “chicken soup starter” in small containers in the freezer. This is homemade chicken stock with chicken meat in it. All I need to do is to pul it out of the freezer, warm it up, add in whatever I want to and there you have it – homemade soup. Usually I make it with a lot of garlic (to help the sickies) and I’ll add in carrots, onions, celery and either rice or noodles, depending on what the sickie wants.
