As the height of cold and flu “season” continues, many of us are may be getting very weary of trying this or that different method. We have certainly had our share of cold, fevers and sour throats this year but have been blessed by the warm and healing powers of herbal teas as one of our natural remedies. I have found warm herbal teas to be so comforting to a stressed and tired immune system. When our bodies are relaxed and refreshed in this way, they are given the ability to heal properly.
In the spirit of getting well naturally, Celestial Seasonings has created a “natural wellness kit” which they sent me for my review and would like to offer another kit for one lucky reader to put to the “sniffle” test! I was delighted with the contents of this kit. Six different delicious herbal teas are included in this kit for the basic sicknesses that may pervade your home. These wellness teas are blended to address specific ailments including a sore throat and upset stomach.
The Celestial Seasonings Natural Wellness Kit (worth $60) includes:
• Four wellness teas to ease symptoms associated with the cold and flu including Sleepytime Extra, Echinacea Complete Care and Tummy Mint
• Two green teas to support a healthy immune system year round – Authentic Green Tea and Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea
• Mug, soothing lip balm, honey sticks and Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Bear (which Karis absolutely loves!) and the book “Herbs for Health and Happiness” by Celestial Seasonings founder Mo Siegel and Nancy Burke, which includes a thorough de-briefing of many powerful herbs.
We have been thoroughly enjoying the flavors and healing powers of these herbal combinations and can highly recommend them to you all.
For additional wellness information, check out Celestial Seasoning for unique resources and videos to educate you about how to ease cold and flu symptoms naturally, with teas, herbs and other foods.

Oh goodness how great this would be. My little one and I have been stuck at home for 2 months straight with one of us sick the whole time… My favorite natural treatment is by far garlic oil for prevention of ear infections! My son is almost two, been sick over 15 times with cold/flu’s and only gotten an ear infection once, when I failed to use preventative garlic oil because I was sick as well. I am a firm believer now!
I am definitely new to the world of natural remedies, but I do know that there is little in the world that is more soothing than a hot cup of tea. While we are on the topic of natural remedies, and I saw a comment about elderberry, I have been wondering about Sambucol for a while now and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it. I don’t want to take over Lindsey’s give away board, so if anyone has any info to share if you wouldn’t mind hopping over here http://lifeinthishome.blogspot.com/ and leaving a comment for me, I would appreciate it!!
Lots of water, up the vitamin C, and raw garlic (even though it tastes horrible!)
During the spring, I regularly use a netti pot to clear out my sinuses. This keeps me from needing sinus medication
My favorite remedy for cold and flu is a drink that is made from boiling ginger in water, adding garlic for a few minutes, straining and adding cayenne, lemon and honey. Works quite well.
Oh boy!!! Please enter me!!!!!!!
We use tea tree oil (melaleuca alternifolia) for antiseptic purposes, and it works like a charm.
Homemade elderberry syrup has really worked wonders for our family this season!
Garlic for ear infections and lots of honey and tea for sore throats and colds
I try to increase the vitamin C’s!! Then I try to make sure I get enough sleep – and get more if I am able.

I have lots of chicken broth, chamomile tea, and lots and lots of rest.
Great giveaway!!
I really enjoy Celestial Seasonings and would put this kit to good use. Exercise is a great way to boost the immune system and promote healing (of course, light exercise is the most appropriate if you’re feeling unwell.
I have been studying the healing power of herbs for a couple of years and have found that by boiling down elderberries and then adding honey it makes a delicious syrup that we take at the start of a cold and this has been the healthiest winter in my house by far. My kids haven’t had to take antibiotics for anything for a couple of years and for my middle child that is saying alot. I have made my own immune tea as well and enjoy sipping on that if I start to feel a “tickle” in my nose or throat.

here’s my facebook link!
I take 1-2 dropppers of Kick Ass Immunity from Wish Garden right when I feel a bit of sickness coming on. Its doesn’t taste too good, but its does the job!
I’m a big fan of your apple cider vinegar tea! I haven’t had a bladder infection for over a year because of that stuff. It was a answer to prayer…literally! Thanks!
my daughter loves tea! this would be so fun to give her for her birthday! our favorite natural remedy is sunshine!! it’s a blessing with it’s warmth, it lifts our moods, and it provides our bodies with much needed vitamin d!
Natural remedies are a favorite in our family and I have loved reading everyone ele’s too! A personal favorite of mine is garlic, along with extra vitamin C…and SLEEP! Of course, if prayer can be called a natural remedy, then that is at the top of my list!
I love Celestial Teas! Nothing is better than curling up with a warm cup of tea…
Yum! What a great kit. Teas certainly are “feel good” when I am sick but there is nothing like zinc to shorten a cold!
My children both have moderate patches of ecxema on their backs, thighs, and faces. When they flare up, they can quickly get to a point where they need prescription steroid and antibiotic creams to heal. To keep their skin healthy, I apply jojoba oil 2-3 times daily and after baths all over my children’s problem areas. If I’m diligent with it, they can make it through a whole winter with minimal flareups!
Tea and sleep!
For Lauren above-a fever is the bodys way of fighting the infection inside-don’t try and bring it down. My daughter had the swine flu a few months ago and her temp. went up to 104. At that point I gave her some aspirin but until then I just let the fever burn-it’s God’s way of healing our bodies. A fever is a good thing.
I also shared on my facebook page. Sorry, I am not sure how to repost that here for a comment! Hopefully I did it right….

My favorite remedy is….SLEEP! Not that I am able to get much with 4 little ones, but it sure helps if I’m able to get a nap or sleep in when I don’t feel that great!
My two favorite remedies include garlic and raw honey mixed with cinnamon. I have experimented this past winter with garlic poultices on my kids and have had great success. My husband and I will just dice a colve into smaller pieces and swallow with water. We also use raw, organic honey mixed with ground cinnamon to boost our immune systems. Great remedy for the kids because they love the taste!
My son and I tend to have sinus issues when the seasons change. One of the things that we use all the time is pineapple juice. It helps break up the flegm.
Tea is my solution! Peppermint for an upset tummy. Hot black tea will take away a headache (it constricts the blood vessels in your brain which removes the pressure in your head)
I like to use collodial silver (brand Silver Force) at the first sign of something. I buy it at my health food store.
This is pretty obvious, but anytime I’m feeling out of it, feel a headache, etc. I drink a big glass of water
and I agree with several above that REST is key to feeling your best as well.

I used Grapefruit Seed Extract when I start feeling like I’m getting a cold—15 drops in a glass of OJ 3 times per day. I also use it to disinfect spoons, cups, etc when we are sick. For ear-aches, I use a drop of warm olive oil in the affected ear as often as needed.
Oh, we LOVE Celestial Seasonings teas around here! This would be GREAT!
Oops, I forgot to give my favorite tip – get enough sleep! You are much more likely to get sick and run down if you are tired. And life does not have to be lived at break neck speed, take time to rest and relax with your family! There is nothing wrong with a pajama day!

I just love some honey and camomile tea when I am sick and always makes me feel better!
Lately, I’ve been impressed with the healing effects of a minced clove of garlic in a spoon and covered with honey. It’s not my favorite TASTE, but it’s over quickly (in one gulp), and I can always brush my teeth afterward.
Well you know mine…homemade elderberry syrup.
My favorite natural healing tip is a good ‘ol massage. Usually my husband’s touch does the trick, but sometimes a pro is needed. We have a really good massage school not too far from where I live that I like to visit when I just need some pampering!
My favorite remedy for colds and flu ~ hot and cold fomentations using a layer of wool fabric and hot, wet towels placed on the chest to keep the blood flowing and reduce congestion.
I love their products and would love to win. My favorite remedy is garlic oil to rub on the kids feet and chest. It keeps the immunity high and gives a few minutes of nice one on one time.
Sleep is the absolute best rememdy for sickness and the greatest way to keep yourself healthy — get enough sleep on a regular basis (this is 8-9 hours per night for most adults). Eating a healthy diet full of fruits, veggies, whole grains and REAL foods and getting a daily dose of moderate exercise come in a close second.
By the way, I love tea! I drink it often all year round!
I love Celestial Seasonings tea! What a neat wellness kit!
One of my favorite natural remedies when we are sick is putting some cayenne pepper in a glass of juice and drinking it down. I’ve noticed that the duration of my colds is a lot shorter when I do this at least a couple times a day at the first signs of illness.
I also like to cut up an onion, place it in a bowl and pour enough honey to cover the onion. Let it sit for about a half a day. Then take a spoonful of the honey as often as necessary. Really helps soothe a sore throat.
I grew up with Celestial Seasoning’s Tea and continue to enjoy it as an adult. My best advice for naturally healing colds is to drink lots of water (or hot tea) and rest. Two very simple, very enjoyable activities, though hard to do when working out of the home or mothering in the home!
I’m all about drinking a ton of water and taking echinacea supplements when I feel a cold coming on. I think the value of being properly hydrated is extremely underrated!
We drink tea!!!
Simply give your body time to heal & make sure to get plenty of rest.
This would be an amazing set! Thanks for hosting this giveaway! I like to use honey with sore throats….here are two different ways to use the honey:
Honey/apple cider vinegar Mix ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup of honey. Take one tablespoon every four hours or as needed for pain relief.
Honey/lemon juice Take several tablespoons of this mixture several times a day. Let it sit in your throat a little while. This remedy will also help alleviate that irritating throat “tickle.”
Blessings to you!
Lisa
Love this kit! We help avoid sickness/speed the healing time by decreasing our sugar intake. Sometimes hard with four very active children, but it seems to work! We also get lots and lots of rest and drink lots and lots of water:)
Wow, what good timing! I’m actually sick for the second time in two weeks, which I don’t think has ever happened. To heal faster, I just try and eat wholesome foods with lots of vitamins. For example, this morning I had a frozen berry packed spinach smoothie. I also take an organic multi vitamin for the extra protection. I do take tylenol or ibprofen to keep the fever down. Any natural suggestions for getting rid of a fever?
