U.S. under-23 international Teal Bunbury is making good progress in his recovery bid following major knee surgery last August.
This story says he’s about halfway through the long road back from sustaining ACL and LCL damage. The Sporting Kansas City striker, a starter and the spear of his team’s three-forward setup at the time of his injury, does not want a specific timetable for his recovery. But if he is more or less halfway to health, Bunbury will get on the field in March, probably not quite in time for SKC’s early March kickoff to the 2013 season but training with the team, at least.
Bunbury could conceivably return in time to make little run for Jurgen Klinsmann’s “B” team that will make an appearance this summer; the national team’s second unit will be summoned for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, leaving the “A” side to the more critical business of World Cup qualifying.
The trouble for Bunbury is what has happened in the U.S. forward pool in the meantime.
Remember, Bunbury was tiptoeing the edges of the striker pool anyway. So, he has surely slipped further in the order. Specifically, here is what has gone on over the last six months or so to alter the order.
Seattle Sounder Eddie Johnson has re-emerged, showing Klinsmann a little something in those two final World Cup qualifiers in the semifinal stage.
Jozy Altidore has reinforced his position after that notorious October exclusion.
(MORE: Klinsmann talks about Altidore’s omission)
Young German-American Terrance Boyd keeps progressing nicely at Rapid Vienna, stacking the “good” ever higher in his quest to break into the upper echelon or U.S. strikers.
Chris Wondolowski has kept a low profile on the national team, but his record-breaking scoring in MLS and continued good attitude during time in Klinsmann’s team has kept the Earthquakes man in the picture.
Wondolowski’s San Jose teammate Alan Gordon has established himself as some part of this multi-layered equation.
Juan Agudelo, still just 20 years old, has fought past the Chivas USA clutter to remind everyone that he is still worth mentioning in this conversation.
D.C. United’s Chris Pontius, circling nike shoes on sale the outer markers of this busy national team “airport,” keeps pressing his case; Klinsmann says he is well aware of D.C. United’s splendid, versatile attacker.
And all that is not mentioning Clint Dempsey and Herculez Gomez, who have done little to damage their places at the top of the order.

Lindsay or NaturOli: Have you used the concentrate for a dishwasher or can it be used there? I think I remember you telling about how to use soapnuts to make dishwashing soap Lindsay, but how to use the concentrate? Thanks!
Hi Debra, I don’t recall what Lindsay’s experience has been if she wrote anything about it. We find mixed reports when it comes to actual dishwashers. Some love it, some get less than desirable results. It’s almost 50/50. I think a lot has to do with the machines, they type of holding compartment, how it is dispensed, and the user. (When I use my dishwasher, I actually pre-soak and pre-wash my dishes first. I’ve seen others put VERY dirty dishes with caked on foods right in their dishwasher. Yuk, but that’s just me.) Surely results would be different between my dishes and someone who didn’t pre-wash them. You would have to experiment for yourself. We will be offering a formula exclusively for dishwashers in the future. There are other ingredients that would be good for a dishwasher detergent, plus the viscosity would be much thicker than 18X. We have experimented with powders, too. Most machines should perform better with a thicker liquid formula. Hope this helps a little. Tip: If you are experimenting, a lot of people use vinegar in the rinse cycle, and that seems to help. Good luck!
Lindsay, I am so happy that you posted this! I just bought all the ingredients for homemade laundry detergent (Borax, washing soda, and Fels-naptha). I was already to go and then I read your post. I have a 3 month old and when I read that borax could be life threatening to a child I decided I better look into something else. I am excited to try out soap nuts (just placed my order today ) ). I am making the transition to a greener, organic lifestyle for my family and I think soap nuts will be big help, and painless transition (not to mention it will save us $). Thanks again! ( And by the way, I love reading your blogs. As a new stay-at-home mom I have been so encouraged and motivated by you. Thanks for allowing God to work through you to reach so many others!)
Hello! I just want to say thanks so much for telling us about this wonderful deal. I just ordered 3 bottles at an awesome price. I am so excited! My husband is a little skeptical (since we have never tried any other laundry product besides store bought “soap” and not the natural kind but I am just impressed with everything I have read. You have shared great details and have been so helpful and inspirational too for better living. I love learning from you! I must say I was also pleased that the shipping price was reasonable. Thank you again!
Hi Kika,
Extreme 18X is for both HE and standard washers. The bottle and all descriptions state 96 HE and 48 standard loads. Directions state 1/2 tsp per HE load, and 1 tsp per standard. It also suggests trying less. Most users actually use more than needed because it hard to get our head around using such a small amount – but it really is that concentrated.
We are introducing a no-mess, very precise 2ml dose dispensing pump very soon. Directions will state one squirt per HE and two squirts per standard. If you figure that out, it will actually yield closer to 120 HE loads and 60 standard. That’s a lot more loads than we state. The pump is actually much more accurate (and convenient to use). We had to originally stick with a teaspoon measuring benchmark because folks could relate to it and use the cap to measure. We are anxious to get the pumps available for everyone (folks will love it). We are just finishing testing different ones to ensure problem free operation. It will even have a long throw, so you can even dispense a half-squirt when desired. We want to allow the flexibility to adjust for low capacity and high capacity machines, individual load sizes, how soiled the laundry load is, the cycle being used, etc., etc. – all the variables that will influence people’s decisions on exactly how much to use. We are making it really simple.
So, that’s coming soon. We will be sending one to Lindsay to test as soon as we finish our testing.
I don’t understand why you were thinking 96 “standard” loads, but actually that’s not all that far off in reality. It just depends on the user and the hardware. Most detergent bottles we all see that are HE compatible (most nowadays) state the number of HE loads (usually in the large type). That’s becoming the industry standard.
Hopefully this helped clear things up for you.
Geesh Lindsay… I sure didn’t expect to be adding so many comments. We are always here to help you and your readers in any way we can.
When I clicked through to the shopping page (and I just tried it again) to choose the sampler package it reads “…Includes an 8oz. EXTREME 18X liquid soap nuts laundry soap (96 loads)…” It does not say anything about standard/He washers. That is why I thought I’d get 96 loads out of it!
Drats! I just put an order in last week and am currently awaiting its arrival. I read, on another site, that the extreme 18x only gave her about 46 loads without a high-efficiency washer (rather than the 96 it is supposed to). Do you use a high-efficiency washing machine?
This is such an awesome sale! I’m definitely stocking up with a 3 pack. 288 loads of detergent or a great price. I still have some store-bought to use up, but this is too good of a deal. I will have detergent for a few years.
Hi again!
Elaine, you are funny! Glad you got squared away.
Cindy, Please don’t frustrate yourself if it’s being cantankerous. I am able to see a LOT of shoppers in the store right now. Just try again a little later. I am going to do a few tech tricks to open the pipelines wider, which should help matters. So, you may even get a pretty waterfall “splash” page with a maintenance note. If you do, that’s just me resetting a few things. Thanks for being patient!
Hi Lindsay, Elaine and all!
Lindsay’s links are totally okay. If you get an error page or a page takes a long time to load, simply try again later. The traffic in the store due to the current sale is so high that it periodically causes bottlenecks. The offer is available to you all and we are well stocked. So, no worries. That “access denied” page is a result of the server getting overloaded and it times out. It’s not in your set, folks. Even the merchant card processor contacted us because we were bogging down their system. Geesh… lol! We really appreciate your patience! Have fun, but there’s no need for you to wait in line if it’s busy. Evenings are usually better btw. Thank you all. Thank you Lindsay for sharing this opportunity. You are all wonderful!
I also just had trouble placing the order through your link. Any solutions?
Hi Lindsay~
Thanks for letting us know about this – I was just to the bottom of my soap nuts bag and needing to order more. However, when I clicked the link in your blog it I’m getting and error notice that says I don’t have “access to that area”? It doesn’t look like other people are having any trouble. Help.
Thanks!!
I checked all my links and they seem to be working fine. Maybe you should try it again. If not, I will email you the link. LMK
ha ha – wish you could have seen my face as my brain slowly processed the “LMK” — I’m sure it would have been amusing
I’ll go try again – thanks for letting me know.
ahahahah – no pun intended on that last line!!!
last time and I’ll leave you alone – it worked fine this time … soap nuts are on their way. Thanks!!
Do you wash your babies clothes in this detergent? I buy a “free and clear” type of detergent right now and wash my whole families clothes together (I have a 6 month old). I just could never justify buying special, expensive, baby detergent to do her clothes separately.
Oh yes, definitely. It is wonderful and soft for all laundry. I do wash dipes with Charlies but everything else is soap nuts.
Lindsay, would you recommend the nuts or the liquid? Would I want both?? I want to order today, but don’t which one to get. Also, we have a large family and do about 3 huge loads a day, would I use more than the 1/2 teaspoon for ex-large loads? Thank you
So the saop nuts are not good with any synthetic material?
Just ordered some! Thanks for the heads up on the 50% off sale-more motivation for me to try something new. Blessings!
Thanks so much for posting this. I’ve been wanting to try these for some time, and my laundry detergent is just about to run out… perfect timing! I’m off to make my order now!
Ah I love soap nuts! Thanks for recommending NaturOli a while back. Soap nuts are amazing. I love that they don’t leave a chemically smell on clothes and diapers like other detergents do.
this is really cool and something i’d be interested in looking into – however, I know a few people that have life threatening nut allergies. do you know if this soap would give them an allergic reaction?
thanks!
-Liz
I have addressed this question in my post: Soap Nuts FAQ.
Thanks for sharing this! I wanted to try it a long time ago, so with the 50% off I was sold! I’m excited to try it!
