I am excited to announce that Mark Chanski, author of Womanly Dominion: More Than A Gentle and Quiet Spirit has graciously donated 7 copies of his book to giveaway to 7 lovely ladies who would love to read this challenging and inspiring book. As I have shared before, this book was my favorite read from 2009, one that greatly motivated me to see my calling as a woman in a whole new light.
Here’s a portion of my original review:
Mark Chanski presents this call throughout the book: “On the field of life, God challenges every woman to live and run in such a way as to win the prize (1 Cor. 9:24). In whatever she puts her hands to, she’s to “do it with all her might” (Eccl. 9:10) in order to hear that blessed commendation from her Lord, “Well done, you good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21). And if she’s to achieve this noble goal on the field of life, she needs to be convinced of living according to these two fundamental principles: “Play your position!” and “Win it!”
Godly women, made in the image of God, must daily tell themselves: Win it! to the glory of God. We must for the long haul, for the entire game, contest after contest, resolve to put forth maximum effort to rule and subdue our daily challenges, so help us God. We have each been called to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it. What field do you have to subdue? If you are a wife and homemaker, this will look like subduing the chaos and overcoming the obstacles in your home, creating order and stability for your family. If you are a student, this means pressing into your studies, focusing on the goal and accomplishing it. This is dominating your world whatever season of life you are in!
I highly recommend this book and would love to pass these books on to you!

Great giveaway! I would love to win because I’ve heard good things about this book.
I feel very strongly that this book is something that I need right now. 10 years ago our first born died in a freak farm accident, my husband and I both struggle with PTSD as a result and last year he had a back injury that caused us to sell the cows and move 200 miles from our family and friends for him to find a job that would support us. I know that God has a purpose for us and try to focus on that but the devil has just really beat us down the last couple of years. I would love to win this book and start living the life that God has planned for me.
please keep up the posts, you have given me strength and encouragment more than you will know.
God bless.
The book very encouraging! Thanks for the chance to enjoy it.
As a woman that may be a future pastor’s wife (God willing–hubby in seminary), this book would be great as an encouragement to me as well as a good discipling tool to use with others in the future.
Plus, I would love to see what Mark Chanski has to say on the subject!
Thanks for the opportunity!
I’ve heard good things about this book! Thanks for the giveaway!
And here’s my last-minute blog post: http://stewardshipdiaries.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/womanly-dominion-book-giveaway/
I wish I had checked in sooner, but I hope it’s not too late. . .I’m going to spread the word to my facebook friends now too. There are still a couple of hours left.
Oh, how I need to grow as a disciple of Jesus, a wife and a mother! I have child number 3 on the way and would love to read this book before the new baby arrives. I know afterward, life will take a while to settle into a new groove. I actually had this book on my Christmas wish-list after reading your inspiring review, but I never got it. So, please, pick me! Pick me!
I would love to be the wife and mother God has created me to be. All too often, however, I get in the way. My home is in a state of chaos and I am overwhelmed. Because of the overwhelmed feelings, my home is not the haven I know God wants it to be. Forget about ministry to others out of my home, the idea of hospitality frightens me. Please enter me in the contest. God bless!
My heart’s desire is to be a more godly wife and mother. Throughout the 7 years I have been married, whether it was in full-time missions or at home with a foster care ministry somehow I’ve never felt like I was doing my best when it came to my role in the home and as a wife. Unfortunately, I think I expected myself to be “superwoman” instead of worrying about being God’s woman. Well I’m ready to be done with that now… and could really use some help getting my home on track with God’s priorities instead of my own. Would love the opportunity to win a book to get me started in the right direction.
This looks great! My of my greatest ambitions in life is to be a godly woman and I could use any encouragement along the way.
I would like to read this book, because I get a chill when I imagine hearing those incredible words from the Savior “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” How inadequate I feel to the task of rearing my children in love, and supporting my husband, and comforting my aging mother, and caring for my neighbors, and overcoming my weaknesses, and contributing something good to the world. And yet, I know He loves me. And I want so much to please him, to become more like him, and to feel the closeness that the Spirit brings. I need all the help I can get!:) (Plus, I’d be happy to pass it along to someone else when I’m done with it.)
Such great timing. After being a stay-at-home wife/mom for 18 months (1st time really *doing* it in 20+ years), I still appreciate encouragement & guidance as I continue to figure out God’s plan for me. This book sounds like a fabulous next place to do some learning!
Oh I would love a chance at winning a copy of this book! It sounds wonderful and encouraging. Thanks, Deanna

I would love to read this book. I have heard so many great things about it and I always need encouragement in how to better to glorify God as a wife and mother.

“If you are a wife and homemaker, this will look like subduing the chaos and overcoming the obstacles in your home, creating order and stability for your family.”
That’s why.
I need help living as one Redeemed out from under the Curse, not bound by it!
I’ve read your reviews on this book and would be very grateful for the chance to read it. Unfortunately, they don’t have it in our library system. Please enter me in the giveaway.
I also wrote about it on my baby blog http://www.babyhomepages.net/visserrific.
I would LOVE to win a copy of this book! Ever since I read your original review, I have been waiting for the right time to order it because it seems so challenging and insightful. I am always excited about ways to be spurred on as I seek to live out my role as a wife and mother in a way that pleases God!
Just posted about this on my blog! Also, thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and your life with the rest of us. I haven’t ever posted a comment on your blog until today, but I feel as though you have been a mentor to me for several months now! Thanks for your humility, transparency, diligence, and example of Godward living! I know that it is the Lord’s grace at work in your life, but I just wanted to let you know that I’m thankful for you and your ministry
This looks like a great book. A breath of fresh air in a time that it is greatly needed, not only for myself, but all stay at home moms. We are going against the flow more now than at any other time and I find it harder and harder to connect with like minded other woman who share the same belief. Sometimes feels like a dry valley. I will have to admit I am a bit skeptical about reading a book on godly homemaking from a man as he wouldn’t have the experience behind his words. So should make for an interesting read. I look forward to someday reading it whether I win a free copy or try to find one at the library! Best wishes and thank you for trying to breath life into woman so desperately in need of it!
I just blogged about the giveaway here http://naturalchristianparenting.com/
I would love to have a copy of this book. I am striving to serve Him as a wife and homemaker and anything that encourages me in this season of life is appreciated so much. Thanks Lindsay, for the opportunity to enter.
