I am excited to announce that Mark Chanski, author of Womanly Dominion: More Than A Gentle and Quiet Spirit has graciously donated 7 copies of his book to giveaway to 7 lovely ladies who would love to read this challenging and inspiring book. As I have shared before, this book was my favorite read from 2009, one that greatly motivated me to see my calling as a woman in a whole new light.
Here’s a portion of my original review:
Mark Chanski presents this call throughout the book: “On the field of life, God challenges every woman to live and run in such a way as to win the prize (1 Cor. 9:24). In whatever she puts her hands to, she’s to “do it with all her might” (Eccl. 9:10) in order to hear that blessed commendation from her Lord, “Well done, you good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21). And if she’s to achieve this noble goal on the field of life, she needs to be convinced of living according to these two fundamental principles: “Play your position!” and “Win it!”
Godly women, made in the image of God, must daily tell themselves: Win it! to the glory of God. We must for the long haul, for the entire game, contest after contest, resolve to put forth maximum effort to rule and subdue our daily challenges, so help us God. We have each been called to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it. What field do you have to subdue? If you are a wife and homemaker, this will look like subduing the chaos and overcoming the obstacles in your home, creating order and stability for your family. If you are a student, this means pressing into your studies, focusing on the goal and accomplishing it. This is dominating your world whatever season of life you are in!
I highly recommend this book and would love to pass these books on to you!

I am voraciously reading everything I can get my hands on about managing my home. I was not raised to be a homemaker and I’m starting from the ground up!
This book would greatly aid in helping to renew my mind as a new mother in the Lord’s service!! Thank you for this blog. =)
I would love to read this book. I have been saved for 4 years. In those 4 year I have gotten married, seen my parents through separation and almost a divorce, been a pastors wife, gone through job loss, had to leave the ministry due to terrible heart ache and pain, moved out of state for the first time and stand by my husband while he struggled with whether or not he still believed in God. All of this before the age of 23. All of this has changed my role time and time again as a woman. I constantly struggle with who God has called me to be and what that looks like as a woman of God. I would love to read this book as my husband and I, now in a new, city begin our lives again. We are seeking God with all we have and a book like this would be great to read.
Kind of at a crossroads in my life at present…looking…searching for a new plan and new hope. From reading the review this sounds just like what I need right now! Thanks for the opportunity!

Lindsay,
As a newlywed, navy wife (far from family and friends)I was overwhelmed and seeking answers about my new role as a homemaker. The Lord providently brought me to your site. Your insights have been a great encouragement! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and good ideas.
I would love to read “Womanly Dominion.” It sounds like just what I need to know and reflect on as I try (by God’s grace) to build my life and home on a Biblical foundation.
I have read your review on this book and decided to put it on my list of books to read this year. I would love to win it!
Just blogged about your giveaway! http://thisismyfamilysblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/womanly-dominion-book-giveaway.html
I would love to read this book for my own personal growth and as a reference on raising 5 beautiful daughters to be the women that God intended them to be!
shared about this most awesome giveway on my fb page here: http://www.facebook.com/share.php?src=bm&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.passionatehomemaking.com%2F2010%2F01%2Fwomanly-dominion-book-giveaway.html&t=Womanly%20Dominion%20Book%20Giveaway%21&v=3#/posted.php?id=1326782458&success
Thanks for all you do!
I would love to win a copy of this book! It’s been on my wish list for quite some time. As I strive to learn all I can about God’s plan for me as a wife and mother, I am looking for sound wisdom and advice. Mr. Chanski appears to have just what I am searching for in this book!
I struggle with balancing homeschooling along with the regular tasks of being a wife and mother. And it’s easy to become depressed during our cold and dreary Michigan winters. I suspect this book may help me to feel more confident in my role(s).
Thank you for this opportunity!
I would love to win this book!
I have just started following this blog and the Lord has used the insights that you share to bless not only me but our entire family. I know that you are reflecting what you have read and I had already wanted to add this book to my own 2010 booklist. I’d love to win the book!
Just as you said, women daily need the reminder to “win it! to the glory of God!” This would be the perfect daily reminder.
I’d love one of these books to give away. I bought myself (!?) one for Christmas – and am working my way through it….Sometimes it seems that the mountain (things I need to change) in front of me is too big – but step by step i’ll keep plodding up it! I would give this to my friend Kirsty who has nine children – I think she’d love it too….then we could plod up the mountain together! (I’m in England – I don’t know if you’d post to there?)
I would like to read this book because I am striving to make my home and my marriage stronger in the Christian faith and in what God desires of me in my life, for my chidren and for my home. Any help in this, in today’s world, is a bonus!
Sounds like a challenging but greatly needed book!
I posted this on my FB- http://www.facebook.com/share.php?src=bm&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.passionatehomemaking.com%2F2010%2F01%2Fwomanly-dominion-book-giveaway.html&t=Womanly%20Dominion%20Book%20Giveaway!&v=3#/posted.php?id=741064232&success
I just put this on my facebook profile for a second entry! http://www.facebook.com/#/elizabeth.ours?ref=profile
I would love to win this book. Having been raised in such a feminist society (where the boardroom and anywhere else men are has become the battle grounds of the battle between the sexes) I need all the encouragement I can get to enter my own God given domain!
Oh, I would love to win this book! Sounds like the shot in the arm that I need!
I want to play! God knows I need a lot of help in his area! Hopefully I’m in the top 7
Thanks for this giveaway!

First off i am newly married and ended up getting pregnant right away and money is tight. I’m trying to learn to be a godly wife and help meet for my husband while also trying to learn how to be a good mommi all at the same time. There are so many books out there to read and many are very questionable in what they teach, this book is not one of them from what I’ve heard from friends and reviews. I would be honored to win it and to learn the godly principles that it teaches.
I would be thrilled to receive a copy of this book! I’m in a season of waiting right now that I never thought I’d be in and would appreciate the encouragement and understanding God could use this book to bring.
I would love to enter for this book–I have never read it, and I know there is much wisdom I can glean from it!
I would like to have this book as I am really excited to read concerning the role God has called us woman to and what it means to walk it out with dignity and yet under the headship of our husbands. Thanks
I’m always interested in learning how to become a better partner, mother, runner-of-the-household:)
I’ve enjoyed every book that I’ve read on your recommendation, so I’m sure that I would like this one as well. Thanks!
This book is on my book list for this year! I would love to win the book!
I soooo need this book! If I dont win it I am surely going to try buy it.I really think I could benefit from this book as a person, a wife, and mother. Thanks for the great giveaway
I would love to win this book. It has been on my ‘must buy and read list.’ However, it would be so much nicer to win it. I am always looking to be challenged, become an even better steward of all God has given, and to improve my attitude. From all you have said about this book, I feel that it would meet all three of those things.
I’m sure all who enter are deserving. I would love to receive the book, but am especially encouraged that so many others are endeavoring to be better wives and mothers!
I would love to read this book. I have heard great reviews of it and am always seeking to grow in my understanding and convition of a woman’s privledge and responsibilities For some reason, our church hasn’t been able to keep this one in stock! Everytime I check, the bookstore is sold out of them – must be a great read!
I am really praying for wisdom on this new journey of motherhood. Your review really made me interested in the book!
I really really hope to win the book.
I love to read.
Feel I need some of these books.
Can not afford them.
Considered scraping some change together….it just isnt there.
This book would be a
true blessing
in my and my families life.
thank you for the opportunity!

I get to do a lot of reading while I nurse, and I want to make sure the books I read are edifying and beneficial! That’s why I’d like to read this book.
I am a wife and a mother of three. I am nearing 39 years old and have struggled against the sinfulness of feminism. I was raised by my mother and grandmother. They were so very good to me, but both worked so hard and unfortunately bought into alot of the feminism being imbred. I was surrounded by that for so long and over the past 13 years God has really changed my perception. I am raising one daughter, who has already felt a calling from the Lord to be a homemaker, homeschooling mommy of as many children as the Lord will bless her with. My heart is completely overwhelmed at what God has done for restoring our family’s heart and attitudes. My darling daughter has already been reading several other books on the art of homemaking, as she knows I have struggled trying to learn this while raising a family. She has already loved several titles including Mother, So Much More, Raising Maidens of Virtue, Fruit of Her Hands, The Hidden Art of Homemaking, and is currently reading Passionate Housewives: Desparate for God. She has read quite a few more and loves the Duggard family from 20 and Counting. It is truly amazing how I vividly remember being in high school in my English Literature class debating why abortions should be legal and utilized. I was so very convinced I was right. I am in awe now that God would make such a drastic change in my life and bless me so much that I can now be a witness to my children who are the fruits of the transformation He made in my family. I am still learning and I still have struggles with all the humanistic teachings I was taught, but God has been so good and my discernment is growing day by day.
In Love With My Heavenly Father,
Deena
Winning this book would be such a blessing to me (and to my husband as well)!! We’re still new at the whole “marriage” thing, and one of the most challenging things has been me figuring out my role. Thanks for doing this giveaway!

I have been trying to decide on a new Bible study plan for the year. I just purchased a Beth Moore study, but it lasts 10 weeks, so I still have 42 weeks to fill in for the year.
I would love to win this.
I’ve been wanting to read this since I saw your review on your blog, I’ve definitely been struggling lately with giving motherhood and wifehood my all!
I have been saved for almost 5 years now and I struggle on a daily basis for God to define my role as a wife and a mother and a sister and a daughter and all the other many hats I wear. I have 5 children have been married for 4 years and we have a blended family. I have a wonderful christian husband who is so awesome and I have asked him to help me define who I am supposed to be in Christ and his answer was I cannot tell you who you are in Christ only God can. He said he was concerned his own flesh would get in the way of the answer he would give me. I have moments when I think the Lord is defing who I am and then whammo I feel like I don’t know who I am or who I should be. I feel like I am lost somewhere just living but without a real purpose. Please help i would love to have this book. Thanks so much for your time.
I have read so many great reviews of this book! Thanks for the chance to win!
Praying that I will win this book. I have been wanting this for quite some time and our local library does not have it. Thank you for the encouragement you give to me on a daily basis, my family has been reaping the rewards. Thanks!
To raise up our 5 young daughters to be young ladies with “More than a Quiet and Gentle Spirit”. To run the race the Lord has given me, as if to win the prize, so that they after me can run to win the prize to the glory of the Lord our God.
I would love to read this book because the topic interests me. I enjoy reading about womanhood from a Godly perspective.
I’ve heard about this book before and was instantly intrigued! Would love to have a copy or more for personal use and for my youth girls. I am a single living in NYC attempting to minister to young ladies who need to understand these principles! God bless you much!
