Here are a few invitations to all my local friends if you live anywhere in the Portland Metro area! We would love to have you!
Pampered Chef Cooking Show
You are invited to my cooking show at my home in Vancouver, WA! We’ll taste a delicious recipe, try tools that make kitchen tasks easier, and learn entertaining and cooking tips. And you won’t believe how simple the recipes are! We can also catch up with each other while we shop.
Please let me know if you can make it. Mark the date on your calendar and ask a friend or two to come along!
Friday, June 19th, 7:00 pm
I would love to have you for some fun, food and fellowship! It would be awesome to meet some of my local readers!
I love Pampered Chef because they use all lead-free glazes on their quality stoneware! That is my favorite part!
If you are interested in making a purchase, even if you can’t attend, visit here. If you make a purchase over $60, you get two free seasoning rubs (MSG free!) and a copy of their Season’s Best Recipe book.
If you would like to come, let me know in the comments below and I will send you directions.
Food Preservation Classes
Do you want to learn how to frugally prepare and preserve your own fruits and vegetables for the winter? My lovely Aunt, Molly Wells is offering two classes in the basics of canning( fruits, jams, tomatoes and pickles), and freezing/drying of fruits and vegetables.
Background:
I (Molly) began canning in the early ‘ 70 ‘ s ( I know that dates me!) during a economic recession. Years later I received extensive training in food preservation from Oregon State University ( I have a degree in Home Economic–with a focus on food and nutrition) Along with the training, and decades of experience, I ‘ ve always enjoyed “putting up” my own food. There is a sense of satisfaction viewing my shelves lined with canned goods that I preserved myself.
Two Part Classes:
Part 1 : June 18th, 7:00-9:00 pm – CANNING OF FRUITS, JAMS,AND TOMATOES
Part 2: June 25th, 7:00- 9:00 pm – FREEZING AND DRYING FRUITS AND VEGETABLES (will also include discussion on root cellar storage)
Cost: $35 per class. $60 for both. Further discounts given for Mother/daughters who would like to attend the class together.
Both Classes will include a history, the science behind making foods safe to consume, demonstrations, techniques, safety precautions, equipment, supplies, tips, recipes and more! Also will be included in the time frame will be a “tasting” –that is, comparing the quality of home canned vs. store bought, soup made from dried vegies, and frozen vs. canned etc.
Contact Molly Wells at molly@missmollytutoring.com or 360-513-0250 for more information. Class registration closes June 14th. Please submit a deposit of half the total amount to reserve your spot today. To sign up, visit here.
Classes will be hosted at Molly Wells home in Vancouver , WA . She lives just north of Costco off of Andresen Road.

Aw. Wish I could come to one of these. Long, long drive from Texas, though!
I have been to a few Pampered Chef shows and each time I go I am impressed by the product, but disappointed by the recipes, as they usually include processed foods. I’ll be curious to see if your show has any recipes using “real foods”. Please share if they do!
ditto what tutti said – i love PC products, but not their recipes.
The thing is, their products are awesome for cooking nutritiously – I love their glass and stainless steel bowls with lids – I use then constantly for soaking grains and doughs and storing washed lettuce in the fridge. Someday I want to own two sets of each – I use them that much! But for now i don’t have the space.
Maybe things have changed a bit, because all the recipes she offered me to use at my cooking show were made from real food ingredients and not processed foods.
Oh, I so desperately wish I could do the food preservation classes! It’s something I’ve been wanting to learn, and it’s only an hour away…. but my husband and I only have one vehicle, so getting there is tough! Looks like fun though, maybe I can catch the next one!
Wow, I’ve always loved Pampered Chef…but I didn’t realize their glazes were lead-free or their cookware teflon free! GOOD TO KNOW! Also, great news about thier rubs. I avoid all pre-packaged things like that to avoid MSG!
Actually I’m having a Pampered Chef party at my house on June 26th. That is funny that you are having one also. Since the beginning of this year I have been to about 4 of them. My sister in laws decided to go into bussiness together, so my other sister in laws and I that aren’t doing the bussiness are having parties. I always have fun at them. I’m hoping to have a lot of people come to mine. It should be fun.
I’d love to come to your Pampered Chef night! I’ll probably bring one person with me. I’m a follower of your blog from the West of Portland area. The canning sounds great, but I’ll be out of town. Thanks for the invites!
Awesome! I would love to meet you and have you!
I will send you an evite!
Really? You’re sure the non stick cookware is safe? That’s wonderful, because I got their cookware as a wedding shower gift 3.5 years back and I love it, but I constantly feel guilty for using it thinking that I’m somehow contaminating my family! Do you know about their spoons and spatulas? I’ve been trying to replace them with bamboo and such, but I still end up using them almost daily. Thanks!
Oh, and I’m sorry I won’t be able to make it! It’s just too far from Alaska!
I specifically asked the Pampered Chef consultant and she said they were all Teflon free. The company seems to have high standards. I do not know about their spoons or spatulas, but feel free to call the company and ask. Hope you are doing well up there!
Lindsay, Sometime we’ll have to meet up, since I’m not toooo far away, up in Seattle.
On the cookware, unfortunately “Teflon free” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s safe, since Teflon is a name brand and coatings called “non stick” can have the same ingredients as Teflon, and just not be “name brand”… if that makes sense.
However, you probably asked the PC consultant if it was PTFE and PFOA free, in which case that would give more clear direction as to the safety.

you may wish to do a little more research on the ingredients in Pampered Chef cookware, as a representative here (http://www.chefsuccess.com/f24/need-quick-answer-teflon-cookware-5359/) claims that it does contain Teflon.
You’re pretty good at searching out the facts, so I’m sure we can count on you to help us know who’s right… if you have the time to look into it!
Have a blessed weekend!
Tammy L
Tammy, yes, we will have to meet up sometime soon. We will actually be up in the Seattle area in August (the weekend of the 8th & 9th) for a family gathering, as all of Aaron’s extended family lives up there. We would love to get together with you guys!
As to the cookware, thanks for clarifying that. I submitted an email to Pampered Chef to get more clear specifics, but have not heard back from them yet. That was my delay in responding to your comment. Thanks for sharing though! I stick to the stoneware and stainless steel cookware myself anyway, as it is safest!
Oh, I so desperately wish I could do the food preservation classes! It’s something I’ve been wanting to learn, and it’s only an hour away…. but my husband and I only have one vehicle, so getting there is tough! Looks like fun though, maybe I can catch the next one!
P.S. – Sorry, forgot to tell you great post!
I would love to come!! I’m really looking forward to meeting you…I so look forward to reading you blog posts!! Thank you.
I would love to come! I will probably bring one guest…another avid follower of your blog
Thank you so much for putting the invite out there, I love Pampered Chef’s products and recipes!
Any chance she’ll do these again? I would really like to attend the freezing and drying one but have a prior commitment I don’t think I can get out of. Thank-you for posting local info!
Yes, she will be doing another one later in the summer. I’ll keep you informed.
Thank-you!!
I wish I could come too! But from PA… it would be a long ways, and since we aren’t planning a vaca to Portland, I’ll have to pass.
Be sure to take LOTS of photos!
Any chance of your aunt making the preservation class available as an on-line class? Looks like there are a few of us who would love to learn about this but are too far to make it (I’m in NH). That would be fabulous! We would be able to do the taste tests, but we could still learn a lot! She could video her “class” and/or write in PDF. And she could still charge for it. Just a thought…..
Hey Lindsay, do you by chance have a web cam? We could ’skype”! and those of us who want to see it can.
Check it out. http://www.skype.com
Skype would not work as it is only a one-on-one connection, but I will look into the possibility of recording it on video and uploading it on the web. We’ll see!
oh rats! i thought it might have worked since I’ve seen it used on Fox news, and oprah, Dr Phil etc. i guess it can only be used by one person to connecting to one person or a group. I was thinking people could connect to you. Not just one person.
Hello! I just found your blog today through a search on google! I was encouraged by several of your blogs and then happily discovered we live in the same city. I am interested in the Pampered Chef party but still need to double check my schedule with my husband. Thanks so much!
I’d love to come to your Pampered Chef party because I really like the products and I would really love to meet you. Do you know if anyone is coming from the Gresham area that I could carpool with?
Heather
I do not know yet if anyone will be coming from Gresham. My MIL lives there but will not be able to come. We live about 30 minutes from Gresham. If it is too for you, you are more than welcome to place an order still and we could arrange delivery sometime as we are frequently in that area because of the family. Just let me know and I can send you the info/directions, whatever you need. It will be so fun to meet some of my readers!
I have to echo the comments by Kate & Kelly. I would love to attend the food preservation class; however I’m in CA. It would be great if your aunt could video her class & make it available.
