Amen! :)

I think one of the greatest things that I have been learning in my journey towards better stewardship and greater simplicity is that we really don't "need" so many of the things that we think we do. There is actually joy and peace in having less! Always growing up with the idea of more being better, I have found such release in this simple concept!

I love Clean House, Clean Planet, and The Green Kitchen Handbook as well. The Simplify book sounds really interesting- thanks! And love that Calvin quote at the end. Good stuff!

Lindsay, thank you so very much for posting such a positive, uplifting resource for Earth Day! I have several "green family blogs" that I follow, but have been thoroughly dismayed recently by their cynicism and complaints about going green. This is the first post I have read today that both offered more information, AND a happy, hopeful, reaffirming attitude.

Thank you so much for making me smile on Earth Day!

Thanks Lindsay! Christians, above all people, should be good stewards of the Earth. Not because we can "save" the planet (it will be destroyed at His appointed time), but as a sign of honor and respect for the stewardship He has given us over His creation. What a poor testimony to be mindfully destroying what He has blessed us with! Our family is trying to do all we can (without becoming obsessed with the pursuit) to protect and glorify God in our use of this planet and its resources.

A few tips: Think... How can I reuse this item or get more use out of it???
-Use bread bags, produce bags, newspaper sleeves as doggy clean-up or diaper disposal bags.
-Recycle otherwise un-recyclable plastic caps through Aveda's program (http://aveda.aveda.com/aboutaveda/caps.asp).
-Save those glass jars and plastic containers pre-packaged food comes in to fill with a meal to share with a new mom or someone's who ill. No need for them to return the containers to you!
-Live in a village or urban area? Bike or walk to run your local errands if they are within a few miles of home. Burn some calories too!
-Feed your pets high quality food and regularly exercise them to cut down on costly trips to the veterinarian by keeping them in good health.

It should be Earth Year!!

My brother is getting married this August and he and his soon to be wife will be doing a Green Wedding. I'm not sure how they are pulling it off yet, but I will let you all know and share some ideas with you after the celebration! Enjoy your Earth Day!
