PLEASE NOTE: GIVING TODDLERS ADULT EMERGEN-C MAY BE DANGEROUS!!!

I understand that this is an old post, however if I was able to access this today (2011), others may as well so I wanted to inform you and recomend you update this post.

On travel with a toddler who seems to be a bit warn after climate change, time difference and too many hours of fun. I decided to do a quick check on the internet to see if Emergen-C could be given to toddler. I found your page, among others including one or two that noted giving toddlers adult Emergen-C as DANGEROUS, this included LIVESTRONG.COM, the bellow quoted directly:

"Safety
Adult versions of Emergen-C, including the original version, contain toxic levels of certain vitamins for toddlers, including vitamin C. The original version contains 1,000 mg, while the tolerable upper intake level for children between the ages of 1 and 3 is 400 mg per day. The children's version of Emergen-C contains 500 mg per packet, so using half of a packet provides your child with 250 mg, which is much higher than the RDA of 15 mg but still within the safe dosage for children between 2 and 3 years old'"

According to the noted information as well as information from additional sites, half of the adult dosage is too high for children.

My husband and i felt absolutely ecstatic that Edward managed to finish up his reports through the entire precious recommendations he received from your blog. It is now and again perplexing just to continually be giving out information and facts that others have been making money from. Therefore we recognize we have got you to be grateful to because of that. The entire explanations you've made, the straightforward blog navigation, the relationships you make it easier to create - it's everything powerful, and it is making our son and our family do think that concept is amusing, which is certainly exceptionally important. Thanks for the whole lot!

My midwife recommended I take this while pregnant to ward off infection, but also because vitamin C helps keep your tissues elastic and assists your body in absorbing iron (mine was low). I like the tropical flavor best. I still keep it around and take it whenever I'm feeling run down or like I may be getting sick.

We are trying to stay proactive this flu season and have started Emergen-C early. My hubby and I take it daily and we just found Emergen-C for KIDS at our local wal-mart...........WOOOOHOOOOO! Our boys love the orange/pineapple flavor, they don't mind taking it daily. It's a win/win for mommy! Now let's hope we get thru the flu and H1N1 season.

I use emergen-c when I feel the first onset of sore throat/cold ect. I really think it makes a difference! My throat feels better right away. My co-worker told me about it last year & I tried it & never got sick! I think the trick is to use it before or just as you feel yourself getting symptoms... & i'ts super yummy

I took Juice Plus for a long time a couple of years ago. I was never healthier than during that time - hardly ever got sick. It also really helped some digestive issues I was having. I'd go back on it if it weren't so expensive.

Just wanted to add another Yay Emergen-C! comment :) I had never heard of it until my midwife recommended it a couple months ago. I know every pregnancy is different, but my midwife recommends it for all her pregnant mamas, as it has no potentially harmful medications in it like Tylenol or other OTC cold medicines.

I'm wondering about Juice Plus, too. I've heard it recommended from several people, but everyone I know who takes it is sick all the time!
