I agree with you, taking care of yourself is such a necessity, not only for your spouse, but also your self worth and that reflects to your husband when you feel good about yourself. I know women that don't bathe or get themselves ready on weekends and I just cringe at how that makes them or their spouse feel. 10 minutes a day is all it takes and that is so very important. Thank you for you insightful encouragement.

Thank you for the encouragement! I am truly in need of this specific encouragement. We are on a very tight budget right now, and I am pregnant with #4 and wanting a few new things to wear that aren't the same as the past three pregnancies. I have been regularing our local Goodwill and have found some super cute skirts, tops even a couple of maternity dresses! I was amazed. It's important for us moms to be fresh and in good spirits for our husbands. One way that helps me is like Lindsay says the 10 min mirror check, and having a handful of nice clothes that can mix and match to make you feel attractive to your husband and not look like you've been slaving all day, but that you have your home kept as best as the day allows and that you feel fresh and beautiful for when the man comes home. Remember, he's had a long day too, and will want to come home and spend time with you and kids if it's a welcoming joyful place to be.

Hi,

Thanks for the post! Your blog is fabulous. I hope the author will also provide a response, but I had to try to give a tidbit to Shellie.

I also have very curly, frizzy hair. Try washing with condishioner only and not every day. Unless you work in a sand pit or something, you hair won't get dirty in one day to warrant a daily washing. Braid your hair and cover it at night to keep frizzies at bay.

As for clothes, make them as clean and neat a possible. If you can find something a little colorful, all the better. When shopping, don't worry about the numerical size but buy whatever fits. And if you're able, try to learn to sew if clothes are hard to come by. Trust me, you can find inexpensive fabric (try the Wal-Mart dollar bin among other choices). And, like the article says, a godly demeanor goes a LONG way no matter the external circumstance. I hope this helps...

Aside from the obvious, how does one learn to look nice? No matter how hard I try, I cannot tame my frizzy hair or find clothes that fit well. I have an extremely limited income, and with three kids, limited time, also. Thanks! :-)

My grandfather once told my mother even if you do not have any money or material possesions make sure that you look nice for your husband. That really spoke to me as a young girl. I always try to make sure that I freshen up about 30 minutes before my husband comes home. I have been trying to teach this to my 3 year old daughter. She will come up to me and remind me that we need to get pretty for daddy. I will admit that it does not always happen, but a little effort can go a long way. Your husband can have the worst day, but when he comes home to a happy, put together wife it can make his day.
