I woke up in the middle of the night a few nights ago because of a dream. The dream was about Satan trying to attack my children. I felt that the Lord was trying to tell me that I needed to be more involoved in teaching my children the Word of God. I have been trying, but not on a consistent basis. We do have our Bible reading with breakfast. If I forget my 3 year old will remind me. We make sure that she goes to Sunday school every week, but what are we doing at home to raise our children so that they will have a love and desire for following God? I have been struggling with the idea of either homeschooling or sending Madison to private school. I do not want her to attend our public school system. Currently she is enrolled in a private, Christian preschool. She has learned so much and developed her love for God in leaps and bounds in the past few weeks. I feel that I have somehow failed her since she has learned more from them in the last month then she has from me in 3 years. On the way to school yesterday she saw the cross on her school building and said,"Look mama that's the cross that Jesus died on." My jaw hit the floor. I have been trying to teach her, but she does not seem to want to listen well when I try to teach her. She will not even tell me what she learned at school when I pick her up. Maybe she would be better off in a traditional school environment. Sorry I kind of rambled on so long. I am so thankful that you decided to write on this subject. I have emailed it to my husband. I have been praying for him as well that he will have a desire to teach our children and not allow others to do it for us. I have always had a desire for family worship, but my husband does not. Our little ones are starting to show the first fruits of our labors, Praise God! Our dc are ds 5, dd 2.5, and ds 6 mo. and we can truly say that parenting, while the hardest job you'll ever take on, is so rewarding when you are intentional about planting truth in their lives.
