I just made this using kefir in place of milk with a whole cup of rapadura to counteract the tartness of the kefir. It turned out awesome!! My whole family loved it!

Yes. It also goes by the name Sucanat. They are both whole cane unrefined sugars and look exactly the same.

Lindsay,

I was just looking for some good homemade ice cream recipes, and as I was on a search about stainless steel cookware (reading your post about what's in your kitchen), I saw your link for this! YUM.

I'm curious about rapadura. Your link takes us to Tropical Traditions Organic Whole Cane Sugar or Heavenly Sugar. Is rapadura another name for one of these items? I've been using a lot more honey lately, but have still not ventured away from refined white sugar completely, and want to do so once I've used ours up.

Thanks again for the recipe!

Well, I am new here (came over from...Kelly The Kitchen Kop or Cheeseslave, IIRC). But chocolate-peanut butter ice cream is one of my FAVOURITE ice cream flavours! Can't wait to try this one, thank you!

Sounds like a delish new one! For those with no ice cream machine (or even those with one and want to save time) -- I recently read an article on NO-CHURN ICE CREAM on foodrenegade.com where the author suggests whipping your cream and folding it into the other ingredients and then just freeze! This adds more air and makes it "scoopable" like store-bought. I'm going to try Lindsay's chocolate peanut butter recipe this way. THANKS LINDSAY!

Delicious! I finally got around to trying it, soooo good. I used 1/2 cup maple syrup, rest of recipe as listed, turned out great. Thanks Lindsey! I also recommend Laura's (heavenlyhomemakers) vanilla recipe, that was my only recipe but I'll add this to the mix too now.

I purchased the cuisinart ice cream maker for my husbands birthday(thanks for all your comments they really helped in my deciding factor on the regular cuisinart ice cream maker or the soft serve maker) We love it! This was the first recipe we used only we used agave nectar, which worked great. It was delicious.
