Good to know thanks!!!!! I doubt we'll get a mini-van, but for ones who do that's a good thing to know. Transmissions are sooooo expensive, and i wanted to keep people from footing a bill on those!

Any update Lindsay? How's the car?

Lindsay,

I know your situation well. Our van is 8 years old this year. Last year, we put over $3000 into it, a major part of it being the transmission. We were traveling far form home when we discovered there being a problem, so by God's grace we got home safely before we had to have it fixed.

In response to the comment before about minivans transmissions not being good - this particular garage told me that Chrysler transmissions were reworked (finally) in the 2008 models (I believe, it could have been 2007 models), so the transmissions are no longer an issue at 70-90,000 miles. However, if you do have to get an older Chrysler van, make sure the transmission has been done already.

I'll be praying for you ... I don't know how your situation has played out, but I (as well as others) would love to hear how it turned out.

Well, as you can see with all these replies that you are not alone! Cars are such a necessary evil! We had a very similar problem last fall. God took the problem for us, and in His perfect way made it all better! After waiting on His timing and doing a lot of research, we found that a new mini van was more affordable than a used one. Our van came with a long and incredible warranty. This way we don't have to worry about unexpected costs to fix our car. We can just make the payment. So if you can find a dealer that has that same kind of warranty promotion, it might be worth a look. God is so faithful. He will make what ever it is you need happen...and usually more! Can't wait to hear how He provides for you! Blessings!

I may be able to help with info. I am a transmission rebuilder and can offer advice if you would like any. Buying used can be scary, but I have had good fortune with www.car-part.com. E-mail me if you have any questions.

Best wishes,
Kristian

I'll pray for your family's car problems. We've had some car problems this year too - it's no fun, and we are not in the position to purchase a new (or at least a new to us car) right now...But God will always provide!!

Praying God provides you with a new-to-you vehicle soon or a way to fix the current vehicle cheaply. Car problems are no fun but it's great to look back on them and see how amazingly God provided through them.

Lindsay,
What is ironic that I posted this morning on our car troubles! Our minivan will cost us more than it is worth. We more than likely fix it, but the worry is that more trouble could come later. We are hoping that we will be able to get a Prius later this year, Lord willing.
How about we pray for eachother?!
God Bless

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! Car troubles make you feel so frustrated and helpless, but God is in control.

Dear Lord, we pray for a mighty miracle for this young family. You parted the Red Sea, you created the earth and raised Jesus from the dead...a car is nothing to you. Nothing is too difficult for you. You will supply all our needs according to your riches in glory. We pray for a perfect solution to this car situation, we leave it in your hands, confident in You. In Jesus name, Amen

Hi I came across your blog when I was searching for sites/blogs that were dealing with homemaking. I enjoyed reading this article on car troubles and several others on this blog. My prayers to the Lord to tide you over this crisis.

I have put up a site called the homemakersalmanac.com with the aim of re-purposing relevant information for the homemaker. I have been dreaming about creating such a site all my life! It is a dream come true. Hope you will enjoy the articles I am putting up as much as I enjoyed writing them. Please note the site is still in the making, but please do visit daily to see what I have added to it!
