If you have a Costco in your area, here are a collection of organic items our local store carries. Does vary according to location. I found with Costco still sometimes they have it, sometimes they don’t.
Organic Baby Food (Earth’s Best)- 24 jars of organic baby food for $13.99…that’s $0.58 per jar! Now that’s a good deal, and a good brand! The box came with 3 different kinds, 8 of each. Varieties were: vegetable and turkey, banana, pear & oatmeal combo, and the last was sweet potatoes, I believe.
Ecos Laundry Detergent - approx $13.69 for 105 loads -wonderful natural detergent! Concentrated so you don’t use very much. Lasts us 3 months while washing around 5 loads per week.
Organic Butter – $6.89 for 2 lb – another good deal – I stretch its use!
Organic Peanut Butter – 2/28 oz for $7.45
Organic Cold-Pressed Olive Oil – 2/1 litter $17.49
Maple Syrup – they often sell an organic version (around $20 for 64 oz)

(BTW: if you have a Sam’s membership, you can get a full refund on it anytime. That’s what I am going to if we switch to Costco!)
Also, sadly, Costco no longer carries Maranatha almond butter
The new brand that they carry is not pure almond butter; it contains ingredients including egg whites and wheat germ. Maranatha was the best! If anyone has a recommendation for the next cheapest place to buy quality roasted almond butter (smooth), I’m all years and would be very grateful!

Costco now carries organic quinoa in 4 lb bags ($9.99 near Chicago, though in Ohio it was $7.99). They also carry Kerrygold salted butter for $7.49 for 24 oz and organic raspberries.
Costco also sells natural (not organic) Marantha almond butter in huge glass jars.
Is olive oil something that should be bought organic?
Lindsay, I know you probably don’t buy the Ecos anymore since you’ve transitioned to soap nuts, but I’m curious why you chose Ecos over the environmental Kirkland (Costco) brand?
Also, what price do you pay for raw honey (from anywhere, just the best price…I’m trying to see if this deal I saw at the Farmer’s Market is good)? It seems so few farmers sell in glass, but I finally found one who does!
Ecos was the only eco-friendly brand Costco sold at the time. I pay $23 per gallon for raw honey.
Where do you find such a good deal on raw honey? Does it come in glass? The best I found was $12/4 lbs (that works out to ~$33/gallon according to a website which cited the density of honey as 11.3 lbs/gal). Thanks!

We are in Washington. Unfortunately, they no longer have KerryGold butter. It comes and goes with Costco’s…that is one reason I don’t shop there very frequently. I can never guarantee getting this same product next time.

I just wanted to note that usually the Kerrygold is not with the rest of the butters, but by the fancy cheeses. Definitely ask a few employees before you give up. That’s how I found a box 2 months ago near Chicago.
In the PNW Canned Food Grocery Outlets (and other liquidators) have a pretty good variety of organic products and are very reasonable. Also many don’t realize you can shop at Cash & Carry without a membership – they just don’t take non-business checks. I really like them because they are no-frills, low advertising, and almost everything there is very reasonable. I did a price comparison once between C&C, Freddies, Safeway and Select Markets, and C&C was hands-down the cheapest. They have some organics like tomato soup, soy milk, and spring mix. They are getting more health-oriented products like Bob’s Red Mill, Adams peanut butter, sea salt, etc. Some things you can buy just a little, others are only by a huge jar or case.
They also sell frozen Organic String Green Beans — very yummy
I used to buy the Organic String Beans all the time and loved the taste. I stopped buying them, and the organic broccoli after I read on the package “Product of China.” The vegetables were grown in China and shipped to Canada for distribution. Not very ecologically friendly.
We have a Costco in our area, but I’ve never joined because I didn’t know if I would still be saving money with the coop fee added on. Do you know what the fee is and if you’d still be saving despite that expense?

We paid $50 for a year membership. They have all kinds of different plans and that was was the least expensive. I think if you shop there enough it’s definately worth it.

Does Costco sell organic eggs? Our Sam’s membership is almost up & now you have me thinking I should switch to Costco- we have moved to eating more organic and now do not get much at Sam’s. I do like the price for organic eggs- just over $6 for 2 dozen!

Yes they do…18 ct for under $5!
In Chicago, it’s $3.99 for 18 organic large eggs! My guess is that it would be even cheaper further from a big city.
Beware that organic does not mean very much. They only get organic feed but most likely are conventional raised in tiny cages without free range access or very limited access.
Our Costco in the Chicago area sells 18 Organic Eggs for $3.99. It used to be $3.69 but that was several months back.
