Our Family: March Update

I wanted to fill you all in on what God has been doing in our lives lately, as many things have been changing since I last updated you. (Read here for the last update) Thank you to those who have been praying for us!

Karis is 10.5 months old now, and moving around with her army crawl. It is so fun to see her learn how to explore, look and touch…but at the same time I am having to stay on top of keeping the kitchen floor swept, as she loves to pick up all the leftovers and stick them in her mouth. She has four teeth now, two on the bottom and two on the top.

We are moving forward with becoming full-time techno-missionaries and are planning on joining forces with LightSys, an “organization dedicated to equipping Christian missions and ministries with the computer technology correct for them, including the knowledge and contacts needed to support that technology. As a result they can serve with greater efficiency, keeping their mind on their task, not their computers, thus redeeming technology — for God’s Kingdom (according to their website).”

We have really felt God confirm this in our hearts. We know that God has given Aaron gifts in this area for a purpose, and since we both have a heart for missions, this seems to be the perfect place for our family. This will be a gradual process, but we hope by the end of the year to be working full-time with this ministry, if the Lord wills. We will have to raise our own support, which brings a certain amount of fear and trepidation, but we know that if God has us do this, He will provide!

God is proving Himself faithful once again in providing all our needs during this transitional time. He has taught me the importance lately of letting my husband manage and control the finances. My desire to serve my husband in this way was good, but it was a responsibility I was not meant to bear. (I am probably so behind many of you in finally realizing this!)

As a result of passing off the management, paying the bills, etc. I have felt such peace! He won’t even tell me now what our status is ;) , but I am thankful for this. He will give me the funds to cover the household needs, and I get to have fun being frugal and wise without that, but that alone is my domain.

It is amazing how fulfilling it is to learn how to stretch the dollar…especially when it is for a Kingdom cause!

We would appreciate your continued prayers as there are many decisions yet to be made. To Him be the glory!

Hi Lindsay. I’m a long-time reader, first-time commentor. Nice to read your update. I really enjoy your blog. My brothers (one a computer-science guy, one a nurse) are working on a computer system to assist remote clinics in diagnosing and treating patients. I’m not very techno-savy, but so far they have had a lot of great ideas and feedback. They just incorporated as a non-profit organization and are trying to get the project going. My brother Peter (the nurse) came up with the idea while on a missions in Somalia recently. If this is something you’d like to check out, you can email me, or you can check out the website at http://www.goodmedicinegroup.org

It is wonderful learning to trust in the Lord while trusting your husband, isn’t it? And I agree, it IS peaceful not having to worry about finances. Mr. U handles all of our finances, too. Such a blessing!

    His,
    Mrs. U
