- Clean Laundry – clean socks, clean t-shirts, and clean under garments folded & put away. I have found that my husband is blessed when I iron his shirts for him as well!
- Warm Bread, Favorite Meal, and a Cold Beverage (or just a nice dessert) waiting on the table when he comes home. (Maybe not necessary every night. I aim for a special meal or dessert once a week.) Serve him a candlelight dinner every once in a while!
- Not nagging during those times when he needs to rest and relax (whether it be sports, video games, computer, or newspaper time) to be doing something else. My hubby enjoys resting in front of a movie once a week, and although I sometimes would prefer talking, I need to give him room to relax! Or just giving him room to watch a manly movie! That is a blessing to him, instead of demanding the more romance ones!
- Not nagging period.
- Not nagging about your period.
(that would be me!) - Smiling when your eyes meet his.
- Washing his truck, car, motorcycle…whatever his big boy toy might be. (Bonus points for cleaning the interior too Ladies!)
- Stopping whatever “busy” work you might be doing to just sit and join him in whatever activity he is doing. (My hubby loves building puzzles – I need to learn to enjoy this hobby with him, even though it isn’t my favorite!)
- Hold his hand whenever you can. Be it the mall, the grocery, the neighborhood, or at church. Just whenever you can.
- Get to bed before him, take a nice warm bath, put on some perfumed lotion, something frilly or whatever you know he likes and wait.

As I’ve been struggling with not nagging and requesting him to stop playing video games, this is a cool list of practical ways to love my hubby. I can’t help but think that we need to becareful though and not make this the end all “how to love our hubby” to do list and think that if we do all of these, we are the great wife that we want to be. I guess it all depends on where our heart is. If we do these things for our own glory to be a “good wife”, i think we will miss the point. Thanks for your ministry lindsey!
Thanks so much for the suggestions. Things we already know, but need to be reminded from time to time. I love this. Blessings!
cute list! And oh so true. we just talked today about how much my hubby loves warm bread. i never have wanted to make it yet… maybe i need to start.
And i just did #3, 30 minutes ago. woops
Thank you for a simple list of encouraging things for a married couple.

Hello! I came over from Arlene’s blog.
I especially agree with 3, 6, & 8; but I’d get in big trouble if I washed a vehicle by hand – he has his particulars. I am allowed to drive it through a touchless car wash.
I saw a link to this post on another blog. I’m glad. That’s a great list.
Good reminder! Some of those things I was really strong in when we were first married, but between kids and other things needing attention I think I’ve started to let some important areas get overlooked. I need to be more intentional in seeking out opportunities to love and respect my husband. Thanks for posting Lindsay!
I had a post Tuesday on Renewing my passion for Marriage. Not really like PASSION but just taking advantage of ways I can show my hubby that I really love him in small and creative ways. Thanks for sharing!
Such a timely post, Lindsay! This is a great list; thanks for sharing with us! I am going to link to this on my blog, if you don’t mind.
