Hi Tanya -

I'm not the blog owner, but I thought I would include my two cents worth...
I began desiring to make homemade bread about two years ago. Much like you - I couldn't afford all the equipment (that I WANTED) all at once so I had to draw a line in the sand, deciding which would benefit my family more.
I could do everything I wanted to do, by hand, except grind wheat - so my first purchase was a NutriMill. Once I had that, I started to save for my Bosch. The Lord provided a wonderful machine (Bosch) for me (used - $170) in His gracious timing.
Therefore, my suggestion to you would be to invest in a grinder first and then a Bosch. Although a Blendtec is a great machine - the blender on the Bosch is also fantastic!
Hope my pocket change provides some help!

Blessings!
Lori

Okay...I've been perusing your site a lot lately, and I confess I killed my coffee grinder last night grinding wheat. It had been working wonderfully, but I guess I overdid it. :(

Anyway, I noticed you have a nutrimill, blentec, and a bosch. There is no way all three items are in our budget right now. However, I want to keep grinding and soaking grain, making as fresh and healthy items for our family as I can. Which of these three items do you use most? Do you have a grinding attachment for your Bosch? Do you knead dough with your Blendtec? If you're grinding grain with a Blend tech, do you use your Nutrimill? Those are a lot of questions, I know. I'm just trying to be efficient in sorting a lot of info at once. I realize some of the posts I've been reading may be old and perhaps you don't even use all three of these items anymore.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Currently saving for a Bosch. I have a KitchenAid which I love for all things BUT bread... but bread seems to be what I KNEAD it for the most (buwahaha) We go through 2 loves a week and I find that I'm spending most of the time kneading the bread by hand. I have a close friend who RAVES about her Bosch - can't wait to get my own someday.

Hello! I enjoy your blog and appreciate how...no matter what your view...it seems you are completely reliant on the Lord as the very source of your GOODNESS! There is a lot of oppinion out there...but you can tell when someone has a spirit of Love and Grace and good Truth! So, thank you for your time and energy!

While I'm at it...what do you use as a food processor (like for baby food, purees, etc.)?

I just bought a Bosch Universal mixer after much searching on the computer.I had a KA that could not handle making bread and that is what I wanted to do the most with the machine...I love my Bosch. With the machine I make cakes, bread, etc. Several sites offer this machine with free shipping. It is well worth the price that we paid for it. I have been baking all of our bread for several weeks now..Love, love it...

Our Bosch machine is about 30 years old and was heavily used before we got it (it was a gift from DH's aunt). It still works like a charm. We love the big food processor/grater attachment. You can shred a block of frozen cheese in no time at all.
DH's aunt swears they aren't making the Bosch machines as well as they used to though. :(
